    Hi !

Reaching out to someone with experience with Genesys and Nuance. Unfortunately we see that there are some config we do not understand why it is as it is.

We are in the phase of upgrading an excisting Genesys on premise  system with Nuance Speech recognition. On the same server that Nuance are installed we see a Apache 2.2 installation, from the logs it is appear to be used by Nuance Spech Server (NSS_<port>_httpd_access.log).

From the nuance install's guides I have access to, there is no mentioning of Apahce.

As a first we need to understand what Apache is doing here ? Can it be replaced or it is obsolete by now ? This install are a few years old.
Can Apache be replaced by Apahce Tomcat which is also running on the system.

Unfortunately we do not have access to the people that did the initial install, so we have to do som re-engineering here.

Any tips or background info is appreciated

Running Genesys 8.5 Nuance Rec 10.2

    Kind regards

Apache can be used for several things:

    - It can be used to run nuance management staion which ccan be used to configure the nuance solution and access logs.
    - It can also be used to serve grammars/voicefiles directly from the nuance speech server if you are not hosting them together with with another webserver/direct on the mcp and so on.

In our nuance setup we do not use a webserver directly for the nuance installtion. We do not use the management station and the files are hosted together with our other workflows/callsflows and their sound files. But I cant say if you can just remove it from your installation.

If the company you are doing the upgrade for have a nuance license they (you) should be able to get direct support from nuance using the http://network.nuance.com portal.

    Hi !

Thanks,. We will try to open a ticket with Nuance and take it from there.
I actually did find some more info so we understand why Apache is installed.

    From Genesys web:

"Apache HTTP Server (Mandatory for GVP 8.1.1 and earlier 8.x releases)
    httpd-2.0 or later.

    Notes:

    ·         Install Apache on the Media Control Platform and Call Control Platform host(s) before you install the GVP components.

    ·         In GVP 8.1.1 and earlier releases, Apache HTTP Server was required to host inline and universal hotkey grammar files that were fetched by ASR.

    ·         In GVP 8.1.2, Apache is no longer required. The Media Control Platform now transmits these grammars by default in the MRCP requests."
