Automatic Recording

    Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to automate recording for all Inbound Calls. Record all the calls when an agent picks up the call.

How can I do it ? from Architect ? Agent interface ?

    Best Regards,

There is a whole series of articles in the Resource Center on how to set up call recording. Have you read through them? They explain the setup in detail:

Thank you George for your reply.

I've been through all these articles, I enabled the Line recording under The External Trunk settings, but I couldn't make the recording automatic for all inbound calls.

The only option i have, is manually record which is not what I want to do.

    Regards

Once you enable Line Recording on the trunk, all inbound and outbound calls which traverse that trunk are recorded.

But in my case, I'm not using the External Trunk for calls.

In my lab, I'm only testing internal calls because I haven't purchased numbers to make external calls.

Can I record only Internal inbound calls ? or I need to traverse the External Trunk to have this option ?

Correct. You can only enable recording on an External Trunk, and it will only record calls on that trunk. You cannot turn on line recording for internal calls.

For my testing, I use another PBX and a SIP Bulkcaller to place outbound/inbound calls without having to use the telco or pay for real external numbers.

Thank you, now it's clear for me.

Could you please give me some details (URL, Docs)  about your testing config, SIP Bulkcaller to test in my lab without purchasing numbers ?

That would help me a lot.

    Hi Charaf,

You could also create a "loop-back" type of line on your system to fake external calls.

You could configure an Outbound SIP Trunk where the destination IP address is the address of the Edge device. Then create an Inbound SIP Trunk which accepts SIP signals from the same IP address as the Edge device. You can then route calls out of the Edge and back into the same Edge, faking an external call, and be able to record the calls.

Hope this helps you some :-)

Have you actually succeeded in recording automatically with that setup, Craig?

PuerCloud analyzes outbound calls, and if the number dialed matches an internal DID it is designed to bypass the Telco and just route internally (which should also bypass the External Trunk). I haven't tried recording such a call, so I don't know for sure what would happen.

With a bit of playing around with the patterns I did... dialling a number that isn't part of the routing but then manipulating it on the trunk using the regular expressions. It was a while ago right enough :-/

    Hello @Craig Stevenson

When creating an External Trunk to fake external calls, which type should I use : BYOC carrier or BYOC PBX ?

You can just get a Twilio SIP trunk account and number to test. This will set you back $1/month for the number + a penny per call minute. It will use your internet connection.

We had to name our agents in a recording policy as we don't want to automatically record business users, but need to record all calls from agents. Unfortunately, we cannot set a recording policy based on user role or queue membership.
