  • 1.  Permissions required for externally logging in?

    Posted 06-10-2019 08:08
    Hi,

I am not able to find the info on permissions for externally logging into PureCloud2. My question is who can login externally from a phone or other computer? Administrators, Managers, agents? Is there a way to limit access / permissions for logging in from external sources? We want to prevent some staff from being able to access PureCloud from the outside.

    Thank you,

    Marc

    Hi Marc,

When you say "external" or "outside," do you mean: outside of the physical workplace? If so, that is not something that is built into PureCloud. It has been proposed in the Ideas Lab:
    https://purecloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/CLPLA-I-679

If you are using SSO, then your SSO provider might support that.

    Hi Anthony,

Yes, I was referring to outside of the workplace. For example, would an agent be able to login at the workplace, slip out of work 1 hour early, and then logout from their phone or computer at home at their scheduled shift end time?

So, I was wondering if we could limit the ability to login or logout to only the workplace (company headquarters). As you mention in your answer, it would appear not, am I correct?

    Thanks,

    Marc

Right now, you can only do that if both of these two things are true:
    1. You are using the Single Sign-On (SSO) feature of PureCloud
    2. Your SSO provider supports it

You're welcome! Keep an eye on the "Ideas Lab" link above; the feature is being considered for possible future work.

I am confused as usual. Why couldn't an agent do exactly what Marc was describing if they linked to their cell phone and could log on at home?

    Thanks in advance.

If I understand the problem correctly, the solution is to only allow login from certain IP addresses (for example, only on the workplace LAN). This is not a feature that PureCloud currently supports (at least not directly). However, if you use Single Sign-On (SSO), your users are not directly logging into PureCloud. Instead, they are using the SSO provider to login, and some SSOs support IP restrictions.

This page has more info on SSO in PureCloud: https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/about-single-sign-on-sso/
