Hi Kevin
This is an interesting thread. We use AT&T for Ashburn and San Jose, but apparently the last mile we have L3 which I believe Equinix who manages the data centers uses? I'm not even sure we were given any choice on this, when we first partnered with Genesys ( before my time). Now we're having a huge fight because Genesys is shutting down the data center where our cage is located and we can't get AT&T and Genesys/Equinix/L3 to extend our circuit 1.5 miles to the new location! Shut down of the location is Dec 21st and the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and it was Genesys who is forcing us to move cage locations. Now we are at risk of having only San Jose ( emergency) as our only connection. This has been ongoing since the beginning of the year.
The other issue is that I have found a bunch of our circuits are default routing via San Jose, instead of Ashburn and I was told by Genesys that apparently provisioning is done by L3, so I have to contact them to fix it. How can I even do that, considering we don't have the partnership with them, since it's "not our circuit?"
So frustrating

Thank you very much Davide! Yes, last mile is always an open point, but over the years we have been able to speed up the process of double checking that two carriers don't overlap on that last mile by using Google KMZ files to analyze any overlap.
In my case, Level3 is refusing to share these because they claim Genesys doesn't have the proper level of non-disclosure. I am taking it up with Terry Stocking who now heads up Genesys' Networking and Telecom. It's one more reason for me to leave L3/CenturyLink and go to my 25 yr go to networking vendors, AT&T and Verizon. I did have to sometimes apply some pressure at each company, but not unreasonably so. L3 always was my throwaway comment for potential customers while at EDS, "We only partner with the best, if you want service that is less, there's always our competitors who use L3." Sadly their acquisition by CenturyLink still has them at arm's length or worse. I feel it's dragging CenturyLink down, they need a wholesale replacement of L3 management if they hope to salvage the acquisition.

We contracted with Verizon for all our lines in/out of Genesys. We have two circuits, one to Ashburn and one to San Jose for redundancy. They have been pretty reliable, but, we as everyone else, are susceptible to that 'last mile', and whomever provides that piece.

Who "brought their own carrier" to PEC?
As someone who architected, owned, and was responsible for availability for cloud based Genesys at EDS and HP from 2004-2013, I was shocked with the default carrier being Level 3.
Without going into many details, my experience has been horrible and that's being charitable.
Who has brought AT&T, Verizon or another carrier to PEC?
