  • 1.  SQL Server: instant file initialization enabled?

I am curious to hear some one's experience with having instant file initialization enabled in SQL Server.
Are there any things to watch out for? Have you noticed improvements in processing tasks like account linking?
I look forward to hearing your replies.
    Thanks!

We've never had an issue with it and it's been turned on for over 5 years, but we are getting away from it. It's not an option if you enable TDE which is required for SCF and HiTrust security frameworks.

Thanks for the response Dan. I know that it's typically on by default when setting up a new db in SQL 2016, and before that you'd had to enable it.

We'd migrated to 2016, but have kept it off. I was curious if there were any performance improvements to warrant enabling it. I'm glad you provided some reasons for keeping it disabled. When reading about it, it looked like there was some theoretical concerns but they should be very unlikely.
