  • 1.  Manual provision enhancement on the softphone

    When using Automatic Discovery in the phone provisioning today we can have redundant Edge servers. But when doing this process manually we can only connect to one of them. In the manual process there is a higher risk of loosing connection and drop the customer. Therefore it would be great if we also in the manual way could add two servers.

    See my mockup of how it can look.

    Multiple manual provisioning servers

    Thanks!

    Hi Tobias, I reached out to our PureCloud Edge team and they shared this response...

    "Tobias should use the global provisioning service or he should follow the settings outlined on the Resource Center:

    https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/phone-provisioning-dhcp-dns/

    Create two Host A records with the same name on your DNS server:

    PureCloudEdge – Primary Edge IP Address

    PureCloudEdge – Backup Edge IP Address"

    I hope this helps.

    The "problem" is that we only have local DHCP and DNS servers on each contact centre. For some of us that is not on the same domain we can't use the Automatic Discovery.

    Tobias:

    It would appear that your best bet would be to investigate the the information in the article Enable DHCP and DNS on your server for phone provisioning (https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/phone-provisioning-dhcp-dns/)

    Alternatively, you can investigate  employing the Phone discovery service in the article Provision phones for PureCloud Voice (https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/provisioning-phones-purecloud-voice/)

    @Tobias Zackrisson ,

    Even though you have local DHCP and DNS at your individual sites (some pn different domains), you should still be able to use DNS Host A records that point to the IP addresses of your Edges, as described in the help article Greg mentions. It doesn't really matter what you put in for the Host A record name in DHCP for Option 160, as the phone will resolve it to whatever IP address DNS tells it...or does that not work for your situation?
