    Hi Team

We found an issue with maximum call capacity of the Mini Edge while doing Load testing.

When we tried to push 75 calls on one Edge and the call were getting dropped from the Edge with a Bye message (Insufficient Media Capacity).

Our Service provider pushed 74 calls from their end and they were getting busy message from Edge, hence we could not test the maximum concurrent call capacity of the Edges.

While testing one edge, we have put the other Edge out of Service. Same issue was observed on both Edges.
Edges were able to handle 70 calls but could not handle 75 calls.
We also observed that the Edge CPU was hitting around 95% when 74 calls were pushed.

Has any seen this issue with the Mini Edges?

    Regards
    Harshit

    Hi Harshit,

What is the Max Calls setting on your trunk set to?

    What codec are you using?

    Thanks,

    Hi Daniel

Thanks for your response, please see the below information:

What is the Max Calls setting on your trunk set to?
    Default 350

    What codec are you using?
    audio/PCMA (G.711A)

Just to be specific...the rating is for a particular scenario:

Edge Mini 75 with Opus recording and TLS
Edge Micro 30 with Opus recording and TLS
Virtual Edge Varies widely based on host activity, hardware, and configuration.

*These numbers represent optimal conditions. Actual numbers can vary depending on the types of operations you perform.

    Hi Harshit,

Do your gateways support OPUS? I wouldn't think it would matter since you are using G.711A, but it might be worth trying, since the docs specify OPUS.

Maybe someone from Genesys who has more knowledge about edge specifics will chime in.

    Thanks,

Based upon the Mini edge testing, with optimal conditions @75 concurrent calls the mini CPU should be at 65%-75% capacity.

So, @Harshit Parsai what else are you putting through the edge besides G.711? Are you using dual-channel recording? Are phones registering and provisioning at the same time? IVR doing Data Actions to external sources? All the calls in queue playing menus and hold music? Anything else?

    Hi George

    Thanks for your response.

Yes, we are using G.711A codecs with Line recording and Dual Channel recording enabled. Only WebRTC phones being used. No IVR Data Actions.
However, a Custom In-queue flow with Loop and Emergency schedule check with custom hold music.

Please let me know if you need any more details.

I don't really need more details. Your scenario is not within the optimal conditions listed in the documentation for Mini Edge capacity, so I would not necessarily expect you to be able to reach the 75 concurrent calls specified there. It sounds like your edge is probably performing as designed and within specifications.
