Mark, based on your description it sounds like BYOC is enabled on your org. Can you PM me the org name and I can look at a few things?
You are correct in that you are not trying to mix BYOC-Prem and BYOC-Cloud, and also correct that for a standard Org without BYOC you could just use a standard External Trunk.
I'm not sure why you are missing options for the second drop-down in the Trunk config.

We're not trying to mix BYOC Cloud and BYOC Premise. We have an on-prem Asterisk and an on-prem virtual edge, and therefore just trying to get BYOC Premise to work, and set up external trunk to the Asterisk. I suspect as you have stated, that something is not set up correctly with our org and we are working with the Genesys team to resolve.

Currently you can't mix BYOC Cloud and BYOC Premise. That is coming in the very near future. You can have them both enabled on the ORG, but you cannot have devices or trunks sharing the Cloud and Premise resources at that same time. That limitation will go away by end of summer.

Thanks Robert. No, we do not have any BYOC options on our Genesys AddOns page. I am working with our rep now, but wouldn't we need a BYOC Premise add-on in order to work with on-prem virtual edge? I thought the BYOC Cloud option was to connect to a cloud SIP provider.

Make sure your ORG is optioned for BYOC Cloud. Talk to your Genesys Sales Rep for this as it will have to be ordered if it is not enabled. Go into Admin->Organization->Genesys Add-ons and confirm you see it:

Trying to set up a trunk to an on-prem Asterisk for a PureCloud lab with virtual edge. When creating a new external trunk, I only see "BYOC Carrier" and "BYOC PBX" as my options for Type. And after I select either of these as the Type, another Type dropdown appears, but I can't enter or select anything from it, yet it says it is required and will not allow me to save the External Trunk.
I'm thinking I probably need "External SIP" as the type to connect to Asterisk. Does anyone already have a procedure for setting up this type of connection? Does anyone know why I would not see the External SIP type for an external trunk, or why I am seeing this second Type dropdown that doesn't appear to work.
