  • 1.  SRV records for Outbound SIP servers

    Hi,

    We have created a ticket on developer forum and they suggested to create a ticket here. Below is the description of the problem:

    From my tests, it seems that FQDNs for Outbound SIP Servers are not resolved to respective SRV records.

    Ways to re-produce :

    • Create or edit an existing trunk on purecloud (Telephony/Trunks/External Trunks)
    • Enter an FQDN that only has SRV records (under Outbound ---> SIP Servers or Proxies )
    • mypurecloud fails to connect to the external SIP endpoint

    Now if you create multiple A records for the same FQDN, integration with the "Outbound SIP Server" works.
    On top of that, it seems that mypurecloud detects the multiple A records and uses it to load-balance traffic across the remote endpoints. Also it seems that mypurecloud detects if there is an issue with one remote endpoint and fail-overs to the next one.

    So, mypurecloud does not support SRV records for remote endpoints?
    If so, are there any plans to enable SRV support?

    Hello Ioannis,

    Is this by chance a premises Edge implementation?  Premises Edges do not support DNS SRV resolution and would explain the behavior described. 

    If you are seeing this on a BYOC Cloud trunk I would recommend you open a Care case as BYOC Cloud does support DNS SRV in the Outbound SIP Servers listing.
