  • 1.  Security concerns on Web Chat

    Hi Community,

    One of our customers is studying the possibility of adding the Web Chat media on top of voice and mail he's currently handling via PureCloud.
    However, he has security concerns and would like to know what security measures, if any, have been implemented.
    I did not  find any relevant info on the resource center.
    So is there a risk in implementing the Web Chat widget on a site ?
    Is there a limit of messages/second that can be sent ? in the number of sessions ?
    What's in place to prevent attacks ?

    You can send 300 messages per minute. You can also start 300 chats per minute. We do also offer authenticated chat, which may meet the needs as it requires that the individual is logged into the website before a chat can be started: https://developer.mypurecloud.com/api/webchat/authenticated-chat.html

    You could also create two different queues to handle chats - one for authenticated users and one for unauthenticated users. This would limit your exposure to issues.

    Hi,
    Following my own post.
    I got an extra question from the customer IT guy.
    Is the 300 messages per minute for the entire Org ? or for one chat session ? or for one sender ?
    If it's per session, then considering the limits of 300 chats sessions per minute, this could lead to a huge trafic.
    Is there something in place to prevent that ?
