All,
I've read through some older posts regarding database migrations and this has been helpful. We have done several of these ourselves and had good success last time having our existing IC server and new IC server writing to the same database using different Site ID's.
However, we are soon to face a new scenario. In our new scenario, we will be standing up a new switch pair on a new domain. We know we can move a copy of our existing database and setup the new servers to point to this. We will not be able to have the existing and new IC servers both writing to the same db at the same time.
Our challenge is since we support multiple customers, our migration of these customers to the new servers is likely to take several weeks (months maybe).
Can we do differential data migrations from the point of the complete primary db backup until we have successfully migrated all customers to the new platform? (we are 24x7x365)
We did this when moving from 3.0 to 4.0. Not sure if something similar is possible when moving from say 2020 R2 to 2021 R2?
Anyone attempt this and be successful without losing data? Any suggestions or tips are welcomed. We are in the planning stage at this time.
Thanks all,
