Admin menu in Agent view?

    Hi

    Had anyone else experienced an issue with Admin appearing in the top line menu in the standard agent view?

    It wasn't there at end of play yesterday - 20:30 BST 22 July 2024, but it has been present 08:30 this morning.

    Clicking on it loads a blank page with no options, so it's not a problem, but it's different and new.

    Hello Dave,

    That certainly does sound odd. Is this happening on all agents stations or just a select few? Does it persist after you clear your browser's cache? I'm wondering if some view permissions may have been changed.

    Hi Jason,

    As far as I am aware, it appeared for all of our agents as of 23 July.  Most agents use the desktop app, but we have checked it using a browser and receive the same result.

    I have viewed screen recordings from 22 July and earlier and it's not there, but on recordings from the start of our workday on 23rd July it is there.

    To the best of my knowledge, no changes have been made to the agent role permissions recently.

    This issue started to happen the last few days for all agents and all orgs we support, web app and the desktop app. It seemed related to the last Genesys update. Also another new feature is visible now for the agents, under performance, contact center, Queue Routing Performance without adding new permissions to the agents. To remove that new feature, we have to remove routing - queue - view but it would also remove my queue activity as they are tied to the same permissions. This needs to be fixed.

    Hey Dave,

    I was looking over the Release Notes for July 22, 2024, but I don't see anything that should have affected any permissions / added the Admin tab to agents without elevated permissions. I'm doing some internal checks to see if I can find what changed. If anyone has opened a case with Customer Care, please let me know the case number and I can check on that as well.

    I will let you all know if I'm able to find some info on this.

    Thanks for looking into this @Jason Kleitz. I just opened 0003537204 by the request of one of our TAM counterparts (@Drew Carrico). He recommends others do the same to get the right level of attention on it.

    Update from Support below. Granted, I don't understand how [after internal Genesys testing of non-admin roles] the exposure of an Admin tab (or let's just say a change to the expected non-admin experience or "new phenomenon") wasn't announced ahead of time as a heads up. Time to hunt down the exact permission agents have that [now] allow them to see the Admin view (which, for the record, the two permissions Support lists below the agents don't have).

    We have received confirmation that the Admin tab shows up if a user has a permission that grants them access to at least one link on the view.

    The link requires either routing:skill:manage or routing:skill:view.

    These permissions are used to access public api functionality and are also used to gate access to UI features.

    Frequently, the same endpoint is used in multiple views so you end up with a situation where to get access to one feature you have to give the user access to multiple UI features.

    With all that said, seeing the Admin tab is a new phenomenon, and not a bug, of having these different view permission.

    It makes no sense. The agents do not have those two permissions and they can still see the admin tab and it is empty.  Agents having a tab that is empty looks like a bug and not a new phenomenon specially that this was not announced in the new release.

    Agree @Ninette Elashry. Given I cannot find a single permission that would grant Admin access, I responded on my support case accordingly.

    Thank you everyone for the info that you've provided so far. I spoke with some of our UI Devs and I believe they are working on getting this fixed. I'm going to keep an eye on this and will let you know as I get more info.

    Hello,

    I checked in with the progress of the investigation by the Dev team. They said that the Admin tab will appear when a user has the following permissions: routing:skill:manage and routing:skill:view. They said that if you don't want users to see the Admin tab, then you will have to remove those permissions.

     @Jason Kleitz - Please check out my posts (numbers 8 & 10) above and you'll see we've already confirmed that's not the case. In fact, if you check out my Case (referenced in post 7), you'll see Support just responded saying they can also replicate it at the frontline level and have passed their findings to the Developers.

    @Jason Kleitz & @Ninette Elashry - Support just responded with this...

    "It has been insisted by our Dev team that the Admin tab will show regardless of any permissions and it is not to be considered as a bug. If a user clicks on the Admin tab, it will appear as blank unless they will be provisioned with the permissions routing:skill:manage and routing:skill:view."

    ...so I responded as follows given it sounds like all users are now permanently stuck with the Admin view...

    "If this is now an expected new "feature" / "UI change" and not a bug, please ask the Dev team to ensure an impact announcement is made [in the future] given our users are now wondering why this menu shows and does nothing."

    I had already checked and this is not the case. The agents in our org do not have those permissions added and they can still see the admin tab. Dev Team keep insisting this is not a bug although it does not make sense to have an admin menu that is empty. All our clients are complaining about this

    Thanks. I was also wondering about this. I spent a ton of time getting rid of that view and then I was told it came back and thought I was going crazy. I'm also following to see if there will be a resolution or if this is just a "new feature"

    Yes, I have spent alot of time searching for change in permissions that made that tab appear.
    Hope it be fixed soon as Agents don't need to see Admin tab that leads to blank page.
