Hi Kyle.
I tested with one of my builds and see the same as you for digital menu... When testing from a live site, I get the ? response and then the menu appears. From Architect bot testing, I have to prompt with an initial statement and then see "Sorry about that. Tell me again what you would like to do".

Testing with the Card Carousel is similar, except that on the live site the card carousel will load without the ?. From the Architect bot test I see the same behavior as the digital menu. Not sure if the carousel would be an option for your use case but it is cleaner.

It's strange because the behavior of the bot is different when testing it in the Architect vs testing it on a live page. In Architect the bot freezes and waits for some type of user input before it responds with "Sorry..." and then you get the digital menu options.

But if I publish the bot and call it from an inbound message flow on a live page the digital menu will fire but always uses a single question mark for the text.

@Robert Wakefield-Carl I checked and my message configuration has the auto start convo setting on.

Subject: Digital menu without question text
I am try to next multiple digital menus and having question text for each one would be a bit too chatty. While the docs and UI does not say the question text value must be provided, when I test my bot it never displays the digital menu buttons unless the question text has a value that's not blank or NOT_SET. The bot just sits and freezes on the last message and never replies. If I enter text as the customer the bot does reply with a static message and then displays the menu options.
Has anyone found a way to use digital menus without needing the bot to provide a message first?
