As part of GCBA installation, customer want to use different proxy for different BU. Ask from customer, is proxy setting can be automatic pick from PC proxy configuration.

Is there any way where while installation, we can ignore proxy and later software can automatic pickup proxy from PC settings. Later if there is change in PC proxy, GCBA can pickup newer proxy configurations.

Also customer want to understand, where the proxy configuration saved in PC. Is it in regedit or somewhere else.

Hi @Shishir Srivastava,That's a good question about the GCBA and how it handles proxies. I've dug into this a bit, and here's what I've found, based on the documentation and my understanding:

So, about that automatic proxy pickup during installation doesn't quite work that way. If you're behind a proxy, you have to tell the GCBA installer about it right from the start. There's a "Use Proxy Server" checkbox you'll need to tick, and then you'll enter your proxy's address and port in the format ProxyIP-or-Domain:PortNumber (like, myproxy.example.com:8080). This is mandatory if you use a proxy. There is not a button like "use IE settings" or "use system settings".

The installer won't automatically grab your PC's proxy settings. It needs that info upfront to connect. You can find more about this process here:Deploy Genesys Cloud Background Assistant (GCBA)

As for setting up different proxies for different business units, that's a bit trickier. GCBA itself is designed to use one proxy configuration. It doesn't have built-in support for multiple proxies based on, say, which department you're in.

The attached picture below shows how traffic flows. As you can see, HTTPS, and XMPP via WSS traffic goes through proxy. However SRTP goes directly. Check out the details here: How does GCBA integration with an HTTP proxy server work?

If you really need separate proxies per BU, you'd probably have to look at solutions outside of GCBA itself – things like network-level routing. But those are separate from GCBA's own settings.

Hope this clears things up a bit!

Thanks @Orhun Sahin for your response. This is really helpful to understand the GCBA way of working and limitation.
