  • 1.  🎬 Movie Talk 2.0 - Classic vs Modern Films Comparison

    Posted 09-03-2026 18:06

Hey everyone! I saw the Movie Talk discussion and noticed everyone has been adding the movies they've been watching. I wanted to start a little conversation and get a pool of opinions from everyone.

Lately, I've been watching some of the original OG movies from the past and checking out their newer remakes. It got me wondering: which version do people actually prefer? Do you think the remakes improved on the originals, or do you still think the OG classics are better?

Here are some of the movies I've watched recently that got me thinking about this:

    • House of Wax - 1953 vs. 2005
    • Get Carter - 1971 vs. 2000
    • The Italian Job - 1969 vs. 2003
    • Road House - 1989 vs. 2024
    • The Shining - 1980 vs. 1997
    • It - 1990 vs. 2017
    • Walking Tall - 1973 vs. 2004

I'm still looking for more movies to watch, so if you have any good classic-versus-remake recommendations, send them my way!

I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. Which version do you all prefer the original OG or the remake? And are there any remakes you think actually did a better job than the original?

    Let's hear your picks! 🍿🎬

I love the 1994 movie The Crow. I haven't watched the 2024 version yet to compare them, but I definitely recommend the 1994 one.

There's also Bram Stoker's Dracula from 1992, which I love, and a new version was recently released.

And we also have the classic Interview with the Vampire from 1994, along with the TV series that came out more recently.

And finally, Nosferatu, with the original from 1922 and the recent 2024 version.

I do agree that *The Crow* is an ultimate classic. I'm actually kind of worried to watch the 2024 version because, honestly, no one can replace Brandon Lee.
The same goes for *Bram Stoker's Dracula*-I wasn't even aware there was a new one! Looks like I need to watch it soon. 😂
I saw the original *Nosferatu* a long time ago, but I haven't seen the new one yet either. I'm definitely curious to see how the new version is.
    Have a wonderful weekend! 😊

The Lion King 1994 vs. 2019 has to be on the list!
For me, the original wins. Maybe it's nostalgia, but the 1994 version just feels more special.

Great question! 🍿 For me, I usually prefer the originals, but there are definitely some remakes that are just as enjoyable.

From your list, I'd probably pick The Italian Job (2003) - really enjoyed that one! 😄

Another one I'd add to the list is War of the Worlds (1953 vs. 2005). The 2005 Tom Cruise version is one I really enjoyed.

Now you've given me a few older versions I need to go back and watch too! 😂

Oh yes War of the Worlds, both of them were good.
