    Hello All,

Next month, we will be releasing a new Weekly Long-Term Staffing Requirements feature. The highlights of this feature are:

    • Generate weekly staffing requirements for up to 2 years using an Automatic Best Method forecast
      • Must select a BU
      • Will need to select a forecast within the selected BU to generate staffing requirements
    • Results will be displayed in both a chart and table format
    • Settings for results view in FTE or hours, FTE definition and shrinkage
      • Display options to view results in either FTE or hours
      • The number of hours that equate to one FTE can be set to any number desired
      • Staff shrinkage can be set to any number and will be added to the staffing requirements results
    • Export data in a CSV format
    • Regenerate staffing requirements after a modification has been made to the forecast
      • A link to the current forecast being used is displayed at the top left corner
      • Clicking on the forecast link will open a new tab and take you to the forecast UI
      • Modifications can be made to that forecast
      • Return to the Staffing Requirements tab and click on "Regenerate" to generate new requirements that include the modifications

We are very excited for this new feature and look forward to your feedback.

    Hi Brad,

Features are enabled by region.  We start on Monday and complete it by Wednesday evening.  The US regions will be enabled later today (I believe this is where you are) so if you don't see it before the end of your day today you should see it by tomorrow morning.

    Hi,

I'm trying to use this feature and I'm running into an error, "The selected forecast does not have enough data to generate a graph"

I'm using ABM, tried 1 week forecasts, 26 week forecasts, etc and all got the same. The forecasts themselves look fine for the purpose of testing this out.

We're a relatively small center, taking roughly 800-900 calls per day, Mon to Fri.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

Same issue for us too. With a higher forecasted volume so I don't think it's an issue with lower numbers forecasted.

    thanks

    Hello,

Thank you for brining this to our attention.  Our engineering team is looking into this to determine what might be causing this.

The error message you are getting typically means that there isn't enough historical data to generate requirements.  If the PGs are new and have little to no historical data then you will want to wait until at least a full week of data has been collected.  Also, if you've made changes to the PGs (changing the Queues, Languages, SGT, etc.) you will need to wait overnight to generate the requirements.

@Mitch Grinter, @Mike Corley, and @Mohamed Nasr in order to investigate this further can each of you provide your Org Name and Region?

    Thank you,

Same here and duly raised with service provider this am .

The forecast staffing is massively over inflated - we ran a 52 week forecast validated the volume  & AHt to be reasonable , also cross referenced against requirements in schedule view screens and vastly different. we also have issues where we cant select all planning groups and there appears to be no reason as to why - ( there is masses of historical data ) having requested to be part of a community group on all things capacity planning I haven't been engaged at all and this is another release which has failed . I still await verification as to whether anyone is also going to resolve the Digital planning groups . My own calculations state about 10 needed - we have enough to manage just but Genesys says we need 50 !!! also whilst fixing the capacity planning can we also have a simple addition to the required tables to show volume and AHT so we dont have to x ref against the forecast in another location. Id also like to know what the formula is in genesys  so I can validate. final point be good when ( if ever ) fixed to export in landscape as generally planners look left to right over time not top to bottom

this is exactly right. We are seeing the same issue as well. FTE calcs are not looking right. we are able to get the job done with 50 FTEs but Genesys thinks we need 270+. not sure what would cause such a big difference. So overall it wasn't very successful unless we are not able to understand it.

    Hi,

The FTE requirement I keep getting through this feature is around double what we actually need (compared to our own model as well as online erlang calculators, using the same volumes)

Any idea what could be the issue?

    Hello,

We were excited and looking forward to this feature but it is still not visible to us. I have checked the permissions and Workforce Management is set to all future permissions, but when searching the specific permission it does not yet exist. I see all the issues below. Was this rollout pulled back and delayed? We are on US-WEST servers

Hi Belinda - is this fix deployed to US West? Asking because we regenerated the staffing requirement numbers and i am still seeing the inflated numbers and for one of the LOB - it still says 'selected forecast does not have enough data to generate a graph'. Hence, just want to confirm it the fix is been pushed through or not.

    Thx!

HI - Great there is a 'fix' may I ask what was fixed , I am able to see the planning groups but the demand is still very high its almost as if there is already a pre built in shrinkage as when ZERO shrink applied looks reasonable ..  with my standard added the resource requirements are very high . Oh and digital is still miles off

Is this using Erlang to calculate the required FTE? Is there a high level definition somewhere of how it's calculating these numbers?

  • 38.  RE: 📢New Feature - Weekly Long-Term Staffing Requirements in an all new UI

    Posted 12-19-2024 16:24

    Hello @Mackenzie Becker,

We do not use an Erlang calculation for the requirements.  We also don't have a definition anywhere that I can point you to.  We generate the requirements using predictive models that use each planning group's historical data to ensure accurate predictions based on past behaviors.  To generate weekly requirements, we use the short-term forecast distribution to create hourly data for the week.  We also look at historical staffing distributions to understand how agents are, on average, are staffed throughout the week.  Using all of this data, the models then produce requirements that will meet all of the service goals in the Service Goal Template when aggregated over the week.

    I hope that helps.

    Hello all,

Does anyone know if the bug has been resolved? A few weeks ago they told us that it was a bug in the staffing distribution generation for certain sets of inputs in some regions.
Just in case there was any prediction as to when the fix would be available.
On the other hand, the functionality is 'weekly', is it planned that the required information will be provided at intraday level just as it is at the schedule view?
    Thank you so much.

    Hi Laura,

Belinda posted the following about 3 weeks ago sharing that the bug fix had been applied.  If you are still experiencing any issues please open a support case as we belive the issue was resolved with that patch in December.

    ------------

Update: The fix has been deployed to all regions.  For requirements that you previously attempted to generate but either got inaccurate values or got an error message, you will need to "regenerate" those requirements.

Also, to update the requirements in your schedules, you will need run a reschedule.

    Thank you!

    ------------

In regard to the granularity of the requirements generation, since this is for long term staffing requirements, our intention was to launch weekly (done) and then potentially add an enhancement to view Monthly as well.

    Thank you,
    Chris Johnson
