New Year, New Questions of the Month!

🎉 Happy New Year, Community! 🎉

I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday and you're back in the Genesys community, ready to get to know each other better with a new year of "Question of the Month." This year we are going to have a different badge style to reward you with, so if you don't see your badge pop up right away, don't worry! It's on the way. We are just waiting to get them all designed and ready to go. Andy who knows??? Maybe we'll give you a sneak peek on the new designs and ask your opinion on which badge we should go with...

But in the meantime, you can have a little fun with us and answer this first QOTM for January:

Are you working on any passion projects right now?  Keep in mind this can be Genesys related, not Genesys related, volunteer work, crafty stuff, or anything that's got you revved up!

For me, I started making resin jewelry for holiday gifts and I'm really loving the process. I made bottle openers, wine toppers, necklaces and more! I just purchased some more molds and different materials to take my crafting skills to the next level. Last year, my passion project was fostering dogs, but since I adopted one of them (adoption fail!) I had to pick something less furry with less responsibility.

Above is a bottle opener I made for my husband and below are some earrings I made for friends.

Can't wait to hear about your passion projects in the comments below! Remember, badges may show up a little late, but I will get them to ya :)

Just an FYI - my ADHD kicked in and the temperature blanket is no more... though Ben has a new blanket and is thrilled. I am almost halfway done with a light sweater for me (it's called Blissful Tee) and then I need to make a baby present for one of my employees who I just learned is expecting their first baby!

I love crafty projects, and social media is horrible at influencing me to try new things.

I got my daughter a 3D printer for Christmas, but she's not as interested as I thought so I get to use it. I'm printing all kinds of kitchen gadgets and things for around the house. My next project will be printing something for her school class as a Valentine's gift.

Nicole, Your earrings are stunning. I love them.

I have two projects and one passion right now

First, I'm writing a book that introduces day hiking to children.

Second, I will continue and increase my volunteering at the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, locking gates, patrolling the trails, and speaking to guests who hike. It is best to be out in nature and educate the guests.

The other added project is to renew my Cloud Certified Partner badge, which I just realized expired on 12/30/2024. Ooops

I am not sure what my passion project would be, but if anyone out there joined the "Don't Die" health movement, please comment below. I just finished the documentary last night and the thought of "Goals" will never be the same again.

    https://www.netflix.com/title/81757532

More realistically, There is a book series called "1001 Movies Your Must See Before You Die," and I have been on a mission to watch as many of them as possible. They release updated versions of the book every so often, so there are roughly 1,240 movies in the entire collection (check it out here). So far, I have seen 560 or 45% of them and I would love to hit 50% this year.

    Let's see...

Genesys related, I'll be moving to a new role which will require fast ramp-up in areas I've not concentrated on in the past...have to get much deeper.

Non-Genesys related, we have a young blind man living with us for a while who needs help getting established in life, so we have our hands full navigating all the support systems, getting him set up with safety nets and teaching him some life skills that the government school never gave him before sending him out into the world.

My passion project this year is finishing our house extension. We've wanted to extend for 20 years and started a year ago. Planning and other challenges meant for a long haul project.

So by the summer I intend to be cooking and baking in a new kitchen amongst other things.

Note I am not doing the building as if I did it would fall down. I will be doing the baking though!

My mother in law is taking the family to Mexico in March, so my current project is starting to prep for that. I know it probably seems early, but I know it will be here before I know it and these next couple months will be busy. I'm slowly trying to piecemeal together information about the when and where of this trip, and it's the first time my kids will be on a plane - let alone traveling internationally.

I'm not sure how soon it will happen, but I hope to devote some time to crafty pursuits after doing some home reorganization.

I've been working on wood-burning door hangers, wood art, and most recently got into whittling. I've made a spoon, an owl, and a fox. (I don't have pictures of my whittling yet, but will share one of my door hanger that keeps the solicitors away!

    Genesys related

I have a dream of having a suite of open source testing tools for Genesys Cloud. I've created ones for Voice and Web Messenger and want to focus on email this year (and rewriting the voice one) - they've been a great way to learn about Genesys Cloud and engage with the Genesys community.

    Non-Genesys related

I enjoy drawing, but can't draw faces very well. So would like to concentrate on drawing a face each week (at least)

I'm currently officiating high school and starting to get into the college realm, so my break is from January to February since we start spring ball scrimmages and rules discussions in March time frame. There is not a lot of on-the-field practice right now, but diving into the rule book and changes!

The best and most challenging part about football is human nature, not only in officiating but with the players and coaches. They were the correct call by the actual rulebook, but it is hard to get past the game situation and some of the inconsistencies! I'm a Chargers fan, so I am all too familiar with heartbreak and officiating injustices.
