@Matt Lawson, I do still have a small collection - maybe about 25 cassettes that have withstood the test of time. (
@Nicole Milliken that includes some mix tapes; I have that same vivid memory of trying to catch a song and hit record right away!) Between my husband and I, we also have around 365 CDs, a relic of sorts now as well. Both collections share a media shelf with a handful of NES games, just left of the VHS tapes. As I type this I'm starting to realize we have an accidental media history museum in our basement...

Emily! That's cool. Do you have it in a place of honor or do you still have a cassette collection? I still have the mp4s from when I ripped my CD collection. Does that count for anything?

This is a great bonus question! The first album I ever bought was The Offspring - Smash on cassette. Spoiler alert: I still have it, although I don't have a functional cassette player at the moment.

Hey trivia players!
Post your answer to the bonus question below to get three additional points added to your overall Trivia Tower score:
What was the first album you ever owned and why? We want to know the story behind it. For example: Was your first album a gift? Did you save all your chore money for months to buy that record? Or did you buy a cassette tape on a whim, just to see what it sounded like?
I'll go first:
I was a child of the 80s and 90s and when I finally saved up enough money to buy a CD (they were expensive back then, so it took me a month of chores). I bought Whitney Houston's "Whitney," mainly because my mom said that the CD couldn't have the "explicit" label in the corner, lol! But I gotta say, I played that CD until there were too many scratches on it to play anymore. It also started my love of collecting music of all genres, and by the time I was 15, my CD collection was the envy of my schoolmates.
Ok, your turn! I can't wait to hear your stories.
