Subject: QOTM - What is THE BEST Vinyl/CD/Audio Tape of ALL TIME!!
This is a really tough one for me. The idea for this question came because I was trying to fall asleep and naturally started rating the Disney soundtracks, wondering which one is the best allaround. Maybe more on that another time.
When I thought of this QOTM, I started weighing, what has variety, can be fun and sad. High and low energy. What inspires creativity, thought, an irresistible compulsion to sing or air guitar/drum along, and of course...STRONG emotion? Do I need to go SFW or can I rep something arguable NSWF (does that matter in my decision)? Should I strive for suggesting something people may not have heard or go with a conventional pick?
The first albums that came to my mind were:
- The Killers' Hot Fuss
- Pink Floyd's The Wall
- Weird Al Yankovich...any/all of them (talk about variety)
- The cast recordings for Hamilton, Chicago, and Little Shop of Horrors.
- The Space Jam soundtrack? It really does slap.
In the end, I went with a conventional pick, but it is a stunner.
My best friend and I did a sing-along to the Beach Boys for our 7th-grade talent show and won "Most Outrageous Act". That really set the stage for me to adore the Beach Boys, but this album has everything. EVERYTHING. There are many good reasons it tops a lot of lists for Best Albums, and I guess I am left agreeing. It covers all seasons, so many wonderful and complex emotions, but still finds a place for "Sloop John B" which is an ultimate ear worm for me.
Can't wait to hear everyone's picks and give them a listen!

This is a battle of the ages. We want to know in your very valid, informed, professional, personal, and casual opinion, what is THE BEST CD/Vinyl/Audio Tape of all time?
What are the qualifications?
- Cannot have more than two discs.
- No "best of" or compilation collections.
- Yes, soundtracks ARE VALID
We want to know if you have one CD to give to your loved ones because it is simply THE BEST! What are you going with?
We all love classics, but I would love to hear some unconventional picks, as you boldly plead the case for why Jimmy Buffet's Changes in Latitude is a must-own. Plead your case, bonus points for originality. Go big, go bold, don't be afraid to get personal.
Oh, and don't forget to nominate your favorite Community Rockstars! Those are the members that go above and beyond to make your time with us simply irresistible, so give them some love and a nomination. It's easy to say thank you!
