  • 1.  SMS Campaigns external Gateway (SMPP or REST API)

    Hello,

    Is it possible to create one or more campaigns that use external gateways to send SMS? We would have the possibility of using an SMSG of the SMPP protocol type or an SMSG that allows interaction with REST API HTTPS services to send SMS. Is it possible to use a campaign of this type of integration?

    Hopefully we will see BYO SMS able to consume any SMS gateway or provider. At this point that is only available for Twilio. What we did for a customers was to use voice campaigns and run a rule that sends the SMS out through an HTTPS service, and then made the contact uncallable and continued on with the campaign as an SMS campaign.

    it seems like a good solution, but could you give me a few more details I am not clear how to trigger the rule from a voice campaign (how? agent less?) and then how do you synchronise it with an SMS campaign?

    Basically, you need a data action to your SMS broker that allows for sending of the SMS.  Then in your voice campaign, you need to have pre-call rule that picks up the contact information and calls that data action and in the same rule, marks the contact as uncallable.  Also, set the number of max calls on the campaign so that it does not flood your SMS broker with tons of requests.
