  • 1.  Business Unit - Changing Start Day of Week

    Posted 05-08-2023 13:58

    Hello Community-

We need your expertise.  We started using Genesys, September 2022, when doing so we chose Monday as the start of our work week.  It has not been an issue until starting a 4x10 shifts which starts on Sunday.  Sunday is the start of our pay week which now the schedule week and pay week no longer align causing issues for some scheduling requests and extra work for WFM.

    Example:
If an agent takes excused time on a Wed, and wants to make it up the Sunday prior both real time and planned wfm have to make changes and they will be reflected in two separate rosters.  This causes the total hours for the week to be inflated in one week and short in the other.  It would be easier for scheduling and for consistency to change our start of the week day to Saturday to properly align with our pay week schedule, especially once the rollout for integrating workday happens.

    Question:

What is impacted if we change the business unit to a Sunday start of the week?  Is there anything that we need to watch out for, anything else that needs to be updated?

    Thank you

    Hi Cressida -

Once saved, you actually cannot change the start day of week (or the timezone) for a business unit.  You'll need to create a new business unit, and copy the settings from the old unit over to match (with the exception of the start day of week).  More information can be found on the URL below:

That said, while this will create a bit more near-term admin overhead, it sounds like it would be the best path forward long-term.  Your historical data will obviously stay the same, your WFM team will have less work in working with Mass Mutual's new 4x10 shifts, and the future HRIS/Workday integration will match up quite a bit better it sounds like.
