    Hi People.

    we have a customer that wants PureCloud chat feature deactivated and current chat history deleted, i first assumed that it could be fixed by the roles, but it seems that chat is embeded in the employee role which is basic role for agent and therefor needed to login to PureCloud.. we then tried removing all permissions and just adding a few not related to chat in order to login... but chat still shows.. and i dont see a way to  delete chat conversations trough the API as well... does anyone have a fix for this of is it just not possible to disable at all ??

    It is not possible to disable PureCloud Collaborate Chat. 

    I, too, am very much interested in hearing someone's response to whether or not chat messages can be deleted or how long PureCloud Collaborate Chat messages are retained.

    There is no way to disable chat. Currently chats are stored forever.

    You could create your own custom Client UI without access to chat, if you don't want anyone to have access to it.

    There may be a limit on how long chats remain when you have HIPAA enabled, but that is an extra feature you have to contact sales to have enabled and even then I can't find info on whether it still controls how long chats are retained. It is only available in US-East.

    There is an existing idea for this capability as a formal feature in PureCloud: https://purecloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/EDGE-I-45.

    Following up on George's suggestion - some customers have elected to use one of the Embeddable clients https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/about-the-purecloud-embedded-clients/ to provide an agent specific experience . These do not have internal chat capabilities. This may also be embedded into your own applications via the Embeddable Framework - https://developer.mypurecloud.com/api/embeddable-framework/index.html

    i will look at your suggestion and see if we can get the customer on board with that, unless they choose to wait for the request to come trough :)   ...but good idea anyway thanks for that...

     There's already an idea submitted which 40 people have voted on for this to be a function that can be disabled for a variety of compliance reasons;
