Christy, we were also hoping to be able to do this and asked the question of our Partner. The answer we had back was:
Spoke to others within Genesys and it was confirmed they you need to build your own web messenger widget using the API/ SDK, as it is not OOTB functionality.

Vikki, were you able to find a method to disable the customer's ability to type when engaging with digital menu prompts? I as well have this need and looking for a solution. Genesys has accomplished this with their digital bot. But I am wondering if this is a custom web messenger UI.
