    Hi,

Just trying to get a Facebook app approved. We need to show why we need the "Publish Pages Permission" on the app to improve the customer experience.

Does anyone know why we need this particular permission and how we can show the use of that permission within the integration?

    Thanks,

I'm assuming you are trying to publish a Facebook app in order to configure FB messaging in PureCloud. Is that correct?

To be fully transparent, the Facebook app we have internally includes that permission. We have not tested a Facebook app without that permission. It does look like the permission may not be absolutely needed, based on what is listed here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/review/login-permissions#publish-pages

The two permissions we absolutely need are: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/review/login-permissions#pages-messaging https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/review/login-permissions#manage-pages

However, I recognize that we include all three permissions here: https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/create-a-facebook-app-for-purecloud/

Having said that, at this point the options are:

    • remove that permission and if the app is approved and doesn't work, then you'd need to go through that process again
    • we can internally try and find an explanation for the usage of it

We were able to find additional information around this, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

The reason we need the third permission is as follows: "Apps need both managepages and publishpages to be able to publish as a Page." To get manage_pages, looks like we need publish, in messaging context.

Here is our app submission as an example.
