    Good Day All,

I am currently piloting Genesys Cloud. We are currently on an Avaya Aura platform. I'm getting to know the Genesys platform. One concern we have is the fax feature. Our company currently uses RightFax, which has served us well, but we are open to using Genesys for faxing in place of RF. RightFax allows us to receive faxes to groups/departments (email faxes/notifications to distribution groups in Active Directory). I do not see this option anywhere in Genesys Cloud. I only see the option for individuals. does this option exist and where would I go to configure that? Also, is Genesys Cloud compatible with T.38 faxing?

    Thank you,

    -Tim

    Hi Tim,

Welcome to the community.  There is quite a lot if information available here with regards to faxes: About faxes although it doesn't look like faxing to a group is supported, but I am sure that others in the community have ideas on how to solve this issue.

First off, Genesys only supports T.30 or G.711 faxing, not T.38.  Second, there is no Group or ACD fax function at present, but there are ideas about it.

Best you can do not is to assign the fax to a user and set the user's email to a distribution box to send to multiple people or to an Email address that routes the Email to a queue in Genesys.

We currently have some users set up like this. I've named the user FAX-xxx (xxx is whatever the department is). The fax number is assigned to them and their email address is the DL.  Works well for us.

    Hi Steph,

Thank you for the suggestion.. How do they retrieve the faxes? Are faxes emailed to them or if it just a notification? Do they log in to Genesys as FAX-XXX to view the faxes?

Right now our end-users will get a notification email, then login to RightFax Faxutil Web, then open the department fax with delegate permissions to view faxes.

Unless you have HIPAA enabled, the fax will be sent to the email of that fake user.  It can go to Outlook boxes or be routed back to a queue.  You could have an email flow trigger a notification to a group, but that use case is a bit removed from what you described

    Tim-

No need to log in as the FAX-xxx user. Fax notifications show in Outlook for those DL users. The actual fax is a PDF attachment on that email. These do not show in the DL users Genesys Inbox. They do show in the FAX-xxx Genesys Inbox as expected. Genesys was having issues about a month ago with faxing and we did log in as the FAX-xxx user and were able to retrieve these.

    Hope this helps!

    Steph

    Hello,

I did set up a test fax user. I purchased & assigned a test DID. When I try to fax to it from RightFax, I see it calling the the Test Fax number, but it does not complete the fax. It's just a missed call. Am I missing something in the configuration?

    Thank you

Here is the fax error I get from RightFax

I just figured it out! I noticed that the fax button was not showing for this user. I went into permissions got the Test Fax user & added the fax options. Once I did that, resent the fax from RightFax it immediately recognized it as a fax and accepted it. Also emailed to the distribution group I set up as well.
