  • 1.  Has any one tried monitoring the Edge device for HPE device using SNMP.

    Hi All,

We are planning to monitor the edge device from HPE. Is there any alternative way to monitor the edge apart from API. Like monitoring  the device direclty using SNMP.

    Hello Anush,

I assume you are BYOC Premise customer and in BYOC deployment customer you can monitor the your edge and trunk metrics by creating a custom dashboard of live metrics to monitor the performance of the BYOC Premises Edges and trunks in your Genesys Cloud telephony network. Go to Admin > Under Telephony click metrics and there you can create dashboard on what is important to you and monitor those metric.

Hi Anush it's been a couple of years but assuming it's an Edge you purchased through Genesys then you can request if you don't already have it the iLO credentials so you can log into the device directly and configure SNMP information.  You can then also configure a specific iLO port for browsing to that management interface remotely.  Probably comes down to what it is you want to monitor.

The downside to what Hammed suggests is that does not track the metrics when you're not actively viewing that screen and won't trigger any type of alert.  It's really only for real-time observation as opposed to monitoring.

Vaun-san, Thank you for your response. The device is HPE edge for customer hardware solution. We need to monitor the edge online status, alongwith the metrics like physical memory, disk space, cpu etc.

Here's a good thread to read Anush - make note of Malcolm's comments at the end.

    Hello Anush,

In addition to the last comment, if you are interested in getting network traffic analytics to monitor your edge device, we provide network traffic visualization as a solution available from AppFoundry.  We measure voice quality based on RTP/SRTP streams, and also track cloud connectivity and application API calls. Our solution is based on a small network appliance that connects to a mirror port and analyzes raw network traffic in real-time.

Here is the URL and SKU number:
    https://appfoundry.genesys.com/filter/genesyscloud/listing/b03f4a8d-9354-43a9-bc73-17ad40bfc8a7
    SKU number:  GCAFP-170-NV-PRILNKLGMETER

Further to that, if you have agent supervisor or remote workers, and you want to monitor traffic at the endpoint, we also have an agent traffic visualization tool that is currently in beta and is free to try.  If you are interested to participate in the beta, please contact us and we will provide more info.
