OK yes, Japanese is currently not supported. You can see a list of supported languages here: Transcript search (genesys.cloud)
I also invite you to provide feedback on our resource page to improve the available documentation here: Work with a voice transcript - Genesys Cloud Resource Center (mypurecloud.com)
You could write something like: "Please update the 'Search a voice transcription' section with supported languages that can be searched in this field, as apparently japanese language is not supported there (https://developer.genesys.cloud/organization/search/transcript-search#most-important-searchable-fields)" in the feedback field.
Also in case this is a feature you would like to see soon, remember to use our ideas portal to submit a request for it to increase priority.

Okay, it works for an interaction in English. So this could mean that it doesn't support Japanese Transcript local search?

Are you using native Genesys transcription? What language is the transcript in? Does it work for other interactions? Has it worked before / for other users?
As far as I know there is no specific permission for searching transcription inside an interaction. But there may be limitations in terms of languages and 3rd party support.

Is there a permission/role to be assigned to the user to enable the local search view in the transcript part of the interaction.
Whenever I hover over the local search bar, i see it a message "Local search bar not supported"
