HA! I don't mind answering. =)
We were away from our parents for roughly 5 days in NYC. We had a strict schedule due to rehearsals and stayed in a hotel during that period (and limited contact with our parents because we were doing like 12 hour days between practicing, breaks, and little bit of sight seeing). After the performance,we were able to mingle outside to spend time with our families. It was during that time that my parents told me how my Aunt performed there many years ago. As she's no longer here with us, it's such an honor to know two Turners were on that same stage.
2. I don't speak Latin, but I can say with absolute certainty that I still have the requiem memorized. The soprano's solo is a bit fuzzy - but to be fair we were not expected to remember that part. (But fun fact - my fellow altos and I had to memorize BOTH tenor and alto pieces as the tenor section wasn't as strong - so I not only have the words down, but two different parts!)
3. My singing consists of AHL games or other local events in my area, but primarily just at home. I had injured my vocal cords after Carnegie and it cut my range from 4.5 octaves down to 3ish - so it was a big blow at the time. However, I've always preferred harmony over melody so it worked out in my favor. And Karaoke? BIG FAN - I just need my friends to come out of their shells so we all can let loose!

WOW. That's so cool! A real celebrity. A few follow-up questions:
1) Was this when you met your parents for the first time, or do you mean, you all met and hungout and that is when they told you about the aunt? (sorry if this is too personal, but wasn't sure how monumental a moment this was)
2) Do you still speak Latin or know that requiem by heart?
3) Do you still sing? Thoughts on Karaoke?

In highschool, I trained my tail off and it paid off as I was selected to be part of an honor choir who travelled to and performed at Carnegie Hall.
To make a lasting impression, I suggested we stand out from the rest of the schools who were attending by memorizing the entire 45 minute Latin piece.
We were the only ones invited back the next year!
What makes this even more special is, after my performance I met my parents. It turns out my Aunt also sang on that same stage - the SAME requiem 20+ years before.

It's March 1st, which in this community means a brand new QOTM (Question of the Month). Since we are currently doing the Oscars Ballot contest and then following-up in a few weeks with the March Madness Brackets Challenge, we wanted to know:
What is your biggest competitive achievement?
Now, don't just think sports. This can be spelling bees, holding your breath for the longest time, or even an art contest. What's the talent you've been recognized for? Answer this question and you'll get a the new QOTM March badge to add to your profile!
