New User Interface

  • 1.  New User Interface

    Posted 21 days ago

Our organization that we'd have the new User Interface implemented as of Sunday, 10/26 via Genesys Cloud. The implementation occurred today unexpectedly.

The "Favorites" feature is needed now to help prevent extended calls for our agents to handle escalations and other reasons you'd need to search for multiple colleagues at once.

By taking away the "Favorites", our agents must search one by one for at least five people to handle an escalation, etc. instead of simply seeing a list of favorites and their availability.

    Hi Wilbert,

This has been discussed a bunch, and the favorites should be back soon. Last I heard, they will be located under User Management > User Directory as a tab. Hopefully we see this sooner rather than later, it's a feature our org uses a bunch as well.

In the User Directory, eh? Don't hate it there, but that's an interesting, less easily accessible place to put it. I guess the presumption is users will have that open in split screen with the agent workspace on the right. Would like to know why a Favorites button on the top-nav button bar wasn't considered instead? Or...to get more bang for the buck, create a User Directory (or just "Directory") button that defaults to the Favorites tab first. Don't make a brutha mock an example up, haha

If the argument then becomes "the top nav bar may get too busy", then perhaps allow admins to pick a default set of visible buttons with the option for users to tailor how they see fit (ala the multi contextual panel tab chooser).

There was a bit of discussion on it in the last Roadmap session and the Office Hours for the new UI last week. From what I remember, the decision to place it in the directory was to save space and simplify the User Workspace area. There was also discussion about being able to "favorite" certain pages or tabs, so we will see how that looks/ works once released. A button in the top right would be excellent; here's a mock-up I saw on the ideas thread for this issue:

Would be really cool to have someone from Genesys respond to this thread - please.

We had Zoltan Juricskay actively engaging in the community during the BETA, but since the beta ended, communication seems to have stopped.

There are two very hot ideas about missing Favorites, gathering over 400 votes in less than a month, yet communication from Genesys has been poor. Considering the severity of the issue, it would be fair to address and mitigate this problem together with customers. I'm concerned that the proposed hotfix - bringing Favorites back under User Directory - is not a welcome solution for most customers.

    Please check the ideas:
    🔹 https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/ideas/EPNUI-I-79

Also, think about why customers are complaining about Favorites - it's mostly due to the lack of a quick way to check team member status. See my comment from idea EPUS-I-179, posted 24th Oct:

"Has Genesys considered the underlying reason for the strong reaction to removing the Favorites button?

From what I see, most users aren't focused on the "favorite contact" storage itself. Favorites is primarily used as the fastest way to check colleagues' availability/presence. This is a basic, crucial need, and it's one of the first things customers ask about during implementations.

The Dashboard isn't a practical substitute for this use case. Navigating there is cumbersome, and it disrupts the agent's screen. In practice, agents rely on Favorites because it gives immediate, lightweight visibility into team presence.

A modern, lightweight presence widget (e.g., "Team Status") accessible directly from the main navigation bar would address the core need. It could trigger the same view as the Dashboard's Agent Status widget but without forcing agents into the Dashboard context.

If Favorites must go away, please consider delivering this presence-first experience as a built-in option. It's one of the most demanded and most-used features after handling interactions themselves.

I'd appreciate feedback from the Genesys product team on whether this approach is on the roadmap. Many customer comments go unanswered, and clarity here would help set expectations and guide adoption."

I don't understand why the favorites aren't back until the end of the year. We're just training and rolling out the users, and then suddenly the favorites disappear. Why did that happen? It would be great if Genesys would share their thoughts on this. I consider this action a huge mistake, anyway. I'd prefer to see the favorites back by the end of this week instead of waiting another two months.

It seems that Genesys may not be taking our feedback seriously. More than 350 votes for the favorites idea "EPUS-I-179" since Oct 3.  I hope they are reading the comments to understand how important this feature is, and how to best implement it so it is most useful, and not buried inside another menu or workspace.

Overall, the new UI seems to be a miss. It is blindingly bright compared to the old UI - many people have commented and asked for a dark mode. At this point I would settle for slightly less bright background, until a proper dark mode can be implemented. It is also missing features - no favorites, no ability to resize workspaces. The menu has been rearranged for whatever reason, with no single pane of glass admin page. It is very frustrating to use at times. I hope it will improve quickly.

Adding a tab to the directory list, as per the admin comments, will not replace old feature. Having to click "menu" then "User Management" THEN "User Directory" AND THEN "Favorite" is NOT what users need. They need QUICK Access to favorites.

Please consider placing the favorite button beside or inplace of the help button on top right.

I agree with the idea to put the Favorite back as a one button click next to the profile area. This feature is highly used and needs to be easily accessed without having to make multiple clicks. I am not entirely sure why it was not incorporated in the new UI? Please do not hide this in the menu area. My org has 140 departments. The directory feature has been lacking in usefulness. The department list is dictated by the top departments with the most users. This should be expanded to pick and choose the departments that each person interacts with. The Favorite container was the only feature that made sense where you can pick and choose the users that you collaborate the most.

I totally agree with everyone's assessment of where the "Favorites" option needs to go. Is there someone at Genesys who is capturing this feedback, taking it back and helping to ensure that their customers' voices are heard regarding this feature? This will hopefully result in a much better location for Favorites than what is proposed.

I like the idea of replacing the 'Help' button with a 'Favorites' button. The Help button could then be moved to the 'Menu'.

    Hi @Matt Lawson

Could you please help us get someone from the Product team involved in the discussion about the new UI and the missing Favorites / Quick Team Status view?

There's already quite a lot of engagement from the community, but so far no input from Genesys representatives. We'd really like to contribute with our feedback and even help as testers if needed.

From the comments both here and in the Idea Portal, it seems Genesys might be preparing a "hot fix" that hasn't been well received by customers. It would be great to collaborate early to ensure the solution aligns with what users actually need - better to get it right the first time rather than having to "fix the fix."

Thanks for your help keeping this discussion connected with Product!

    Hi Team,

Genesys understand the need and the user stories. We've chosen to add Favorites as a new tab in the Directory for the following reasons:
    • Improved multitasking: When Favorites is part of the main User Directory view, users can view it alongside the Interaction Workspace using split screen: something not possible with the legacy version.
    • Future flexibility: This approach aligns with the upcoming Bookmarking feature (targeted for Q1), which will offer quick access to Favorites and other frequently used pages.
    • Consistent access control: Since Favorites and Directory use the same data source, keeping them together ensures consistent access management especially important for customers in regulated environments. Having proper permission control over viewing states of users have been specifically requested.

We will continue to improve our UI and the upcoming features to fit them into our vision.

    Regards:

    Zoltan

    Everyone,

It's clear this is a widely used and valued feature across many organizations. While it's good that Favourites will return as a tab under User Directory, his placement may not meet the urgency and accessibility needs tht people are raising here. Will keep an eye on this thread & Idea portal.
    Thanks
