  • 1.  Pairing an Edge to a Genesys Cloud instance at US West2 region

    Hi,

Last week went to a customer's site to unpair an Edge registered on a customer's Genesys Cloud instance (Region: US East) and to register (pair) it on a new customer's instance (same customer, same physical conections, same network, same network interfaces configurations, etc.) but located in Region US West2.

It was never possible to pair this Edge Server Standard v3 after unpairing it from the original instance at US East Region, on the new instance at US West2 region.

Process never ended succesfully, and of course the Edge Server was never paired in the new customer's instance.

While checking, using the  USB display the Region Discovery was set as "AutoSelect", but if you go to the manual mode, you find that there's no US West region available on the Edge Server.

Need to know if someone was able to register (pair) an Edge Server at this new Genesys Cloud Region, and if it was done successfully what has been done to do it without problems.

We had to go back, and perform a new pairing of this same server (the only one the customer has on site) on the original Genesys Cloud were it was initially before unpairing it, using the API Explorer tool available for such operation.

    Thanks

    Regards

Anytime I had to move an Edge from ORG to ORG it has been a real pain.  First, you stop the pairing service in Genesys Cloud and the Edge itself.  Then use the API to remove the Edge.  Then go in and remove the server from Genesys Cloud.

After that, default the Edge from the front panel.

After a couple of reboots, it should be ready for the USB on the new ORG.

I have not had to do this between Regions, but I would assume that should not matter if you default the unit.

    Thanks Robert!

One additional question following your reply:

How can you stop the pairing service in Genesys Cloud and the Edge itself?

    Best regards,

Sorry, that was the old days.  Just use the API to remove the Edge from the ORG

    Thanks again Robert.

That's exactly what I've done, step by step but finally failed to pair it on the new region (US West 2).

I guess that the problem is that the Edge doesn't know the new Region US West 2 (which is not appearing in the list while consulting the options available while attempting to select the region in manual mode):

No answers from Customer Care yet, explaining what should be done to get this Edge moved from one region to another one in different Genesys Cloud instances on difrerent regions.

US West 2 region is quite a new one... and I'm afraid nobody attempted to pair an Edge at this region yet,.

Apart from the problem found, not permitting us to "move" the Edge Server from one Genesys Cloud instance to a new one corresponding to the same final customer., the Resource Center documentation must be completed.

There's no clear detailed (step by steo) procedure found there.

Thanks for taking this request into account.

I am guessing your last line is correct - it is so much fun being on the bleeding edge!

Jorge, did you give that feedback on the Resource Center page? That is the best way to let Doc know.

    Thanks George for your suggestion.

It is not done yet, but I'll do it to have these unpairing process detailed in the Resource Center.

Request (as feedback) sent on the Genesys Cloud Resource Center.

Now waiting for this to be taken into account there.
