  • 1.  Polycom registered to wrong IP

    Posted 12-19-2022 17:10
    Hi.

My server has two IPs such as 10.X.X.X and 192.168.X.X, 10 is for data and 192 is for voice, the register line is on 192 IP segment. My softphone can find the 192 IP and registered automatically without any problem but when I use polycom phone, it always talk to 10 IP.

Is there somewhere I can config the polycom register to 192 in IC server?

    thanks,

    Hi Lei,

It looks like a DNS issue.

Check your DHCP option 160 config. It should be something like :

    DHCP Option 160:         http://cic.domain.net:8088

That name (cic.domain.net) is probably pointing 10 IP in your DNS configuration.
You can either change it in DNS or you can use IP address instead of name in DHCP config.

    Hi Guchan,

Thank you for your reply. I configured http://192.168.x.x:8088 in DHCP opt 160, and boot server: custom + 66, boot serv opt 160 in Polycom.
The phone is able to talk to 192 IP via http and it is still send SIP register to 10 IP segment after that.

    thanks,

    Hi Lei,

    It doesn't make sense :(.

I'd capture packet from Polycom to see what it is sending/receiving from DHCP/DNS.

You can do that either configuring port mirroring from switch or Remote Packet Capture from Polycom.

If you can share that capture, I can check that.
Also please share phone logs from CIC (log folder/date/phones/<mac address files>

PS: Capture should be starting from Polycom boot.

Might want to try and factory reset the Polycom phone, or review the configuration on the phone. I have found a few times configuration was hardcoded on the phone and a factory reset almost always fixed my issue.
