  • 1.  Preferred Name attribute in Person Details

    Hi

    The preferred name attribute in Person Details that was referenced in last week's release, should an admin expect to see that attribute in the Personal Details UI by default even if it is unpopulated?  I'm not able to see it.

    HI Jennifer, 

    The preferred name attribute won't show unless it's populated. 

    To add preferred name for a user, go to the person details tab of the individual you're wanting to update, then select edit mode. From there you can select the "add new section" button in the middle of the page, and that will give you a set of additional user related sections you can add for that user - each one has its own set of attributes. The "preferred name" attribute is in the "Agent" section... interestingly it's just labeled "name"  

    Once you add the value it'll appear on the person's detail page.

    Thanks Dean,  that's where the confusion has arisen - I was specifically looking for an attribute called "preferred name" and discounted "name".   Can you feedback to the release comms teams that it would be beneficial to quote the actual name of the attribute in the UI when referencing any.  Many thanks.

    I gave some feedback to Doc regarding some possible changes to the Resource Center article which gives directions on how to "Add an agent alias name and image".

    I think perhaps some confusion was introduced by the Release Notes because the release is specifically related to the new API endpoint which allows you to set that Name field in the Agent section of the profile programmatically. Now an admin doesn't have to go through the UI and change each person one-by-one when you need an Alias to show up in digital interactions or Canned Responses instead of the agent's real name.

    The parameter name in the API schema for PATCH /api/v2/users/{userId} is "preferredName": 

    There is no default value.
