    Hi!

    I am about to setup Polycom VVX501 phones as they are directly supported by Genesys Cloud.

    When I reset the phone to "Factory default", the phones have a setting "Base Profile" = "Skype".
    I need to manually change the setting in each phone from "Skype" to "Generic".

    This setting is also visible in the device.cfg:
    <device.baseProfile device.baseProfile.set="1" device.baseProfile="Skype">
    </device.baseProfile>

    Is there any way to configure this setting in Genesys Cloud at Phone Management -> Base Setting -> "My Polycom VVX501 Setting" ?
    Maybe at the "Custom" settings?

    BR, Robert

    Hey Robert,

    You shouldn't need to mess with any .cfg files for the phone. If you have the base setting for the Polycom VVX 501 set up in the org, and the hardware ID / MAC Address typed in correctly, the phone should pull down a new .cfg during the provisioning process and be set up properly. If you're trying to take advantage of Polycom's Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) feature, you will want to check out this Resource Center article. You may also want to read the "Manually configure the provisioning information for the Polycom VVX phone" article as well.

    Hello,

    I recently spent a lot of time to figure out why VVX311 phones don't register to cloud services, while they were working OK with Premise Edges. And the answer to that was "Base Profile" = "Skype". That setting is not visible on webUI, only on the phone, so I cannot change it remotely. I did not found any documentation about that on Genesys Sites. Even opening support case turned out to be a dead end.

    Seems like custom options in base settings should be the place to put such setting and I think this should be set out of the box for VVX 311 and apparently  501.

    Regards,

    Wojciech.

    Dear Jason and Wojciech,

    THANKS for your replies.

    I've followed the instructions at the Resource Center. The phone could get provisioned successfully just by having the HDCP Option 66, but the registration failed.
    Investigation the logs and phone configs I still found the Skype related setting.

    @Jason:

    Can you check Genesys internally if this setting is included in your provisioning files for the Polycom VVX501?
    <device.baseProfile device.baseProfile.set="1" device.baseProfile="Generic">

    Thanks to Wojciech to confirm the same issue and it's pretty sad to hear that the Genesys Support isn't able to help with that.
    The last option is to create an Idea but then it will take years until this problem will be solved :-(

    Digging into Ideas I've found that it's possible to reference custom config files from your own web server at Phone Bases Settings -> Network -> Custom Configuration Files.

    This way it seems that I can solve the problem  :-)

    But even this is possible it should be a default implementation in the Genesys provisioning file!
