Salesforce has a feature called Salesforce Connect (https://www.salesforce.com/products/platform/services/how-you-integrate/), which allows Salesforce to display data from other sources (i.e. Dynamics CRM, SAP, Oracle DB, etc). This connection is established through the OData protocol (http://www.odata.org/getting-started/basic-tutorial/).

Does PureCloud support the OData protocol? Second, has anyone by chance tried using Salesforce Connect with PureCloud?

no, purecloud does not support odata, you would need an intermediate web service. I have used SF connect before but not with PureCloud

@lehelg If you end up creating this, it would be an excellent project to list as an open source project. If it's not open source, we plan to launch a marketplace next year if you're interested in selling it.

@tim.smith and @KevinGlinski I understand you can achieve this via an intermediary web service. However, there is a business case that can be made for adding support for OData, as this will significantly reduce the cost, development time and complexity of the integration. In addition, you have a much stronger message for supporting SFDC Integration. Perhaps you guys can feed this back to Product Management.

I was discussing this with the analytics team and this is the first request we've had for OData thus far. They're aware of the request now, but it's unlikely to be prioritized until there is more interest in it.
