  • 1.  Replacement for Group Chat Notifications Integration

    Hi everyone,

    The July 7 2025 release notes announced the "Deprecation: Removal of Webhooks integration for chat notification" and also mentions, "While this deprecation announcement does not currently impact the generic webhook integration, its deprecation is anticipated in the future. Customers must migrate from using webhooks integration for chat notification to Webhooks for Events integration in Genesys Cloud and send chat notifications using workflows."

    We use the generic webhook integration throughout all our flows to capture events and post alerts in multiple collaborate chat groups. I've been reviewing the new Webhooks for Events integration and have manged to get it working with a trigger and workflow. The missing piece of the puzzle is being able to post a message to a chat group.

    This discussion (Genesys Cloud - Main) details that it's not possible as "Collaborate Chat API cannot be used within Data Actions because it requires user context". My question is, how do we replicate the functionality of the generic webhook integration once it's deprecated? Note that we aren't in a position to be leveraging external integrations like AWS Lambda functions to achieve this.

    Adam,

    The reason the Generic Webhook integration wasn't announced as being deprecated in that notice is that we haven't finished the work on the replacement for it.  What is currently in development is the ability to send chat notifications from Workflows, which can be called from triggers, which can be invoked from the new Webhooks for Events integration (https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/about-webhook-for-events/). 

    Webhooks for Events, by way of invoking workflows, allows for all sorts of additional capabilities, including calling data actions to perform all sorts of interesting tasks (sending SMS, adding to a Dialer campaign, scheduling callbacks, coordinating with 3rd party systems, etc.).  Once Chat notifications are available in workflows, the new Webhook for Events integration will be capable of everything you can use Webhooks for today and so much more.  

    Once the chat notifications from Workflows is complete, we intend to include a Blueprint showcasing exactly how to setup the new webhook integration, trigger, and workflow to replicate the existing behavior of the Generic Webhook integration.  The idea is to make the migration process as simple as possible.
