We have a standalone phone built with a DID assigned to it. This phone, even though it is in standalone mode, is selectable by any agent. Why does that phone show up in the list of selectable devices? The purpose of a standalone phone is that no agent or user needs to be assigned to it right? Anyone know why or if you can make them not visible?

    Thanks in advance.

Even though labeled as Standalone, it has always been an option for a user to select one of those phones. All the way back through PureConnect/Interaction Center. Just always been that way.

I am surprised that this hasn't come up before, or maybe it has. It is definitely causing confusion amongst users who see that phone and don't know what to do with it. Or rather, select that phone unknowingly. Thanks for the reply.

I have created an idea for this. Feel free to vote :-)

They will be merged, I'm sure...

I understand why you want it that way.

I go way back. In the "old days" of Interaction Center (precursor/springboard for PureCloud/Genesys Cloud) I could be walking out of the building, remember that I forgot to call my wife (this is before I had a cell phone with unlimited minutes), stop at the Lobby phone and log in via the phone (option in the IVR), place a call using my user rights (because that system had calling rights based upon user), call my wife from that standalone Lobby phone, then log out (via IVR), and head home...

    Blake,

With version 4.0 of CIC (PureConnect) Interactive Intelligence (as was) introduced the ability to control, through Access Control settings, which stations a user was able to log in to / from. By default, it was only your default station. On the rare occasion that this came up when I was teaching class, my students would unanimously indicate that they modified the Default User (basically, Everyone) to grant access to log in to all stations (essentially creating the behavior you have observed.) I don't think I ever encountered a situation where folks actually used this setting. (It must've been requested, or I doubt they would've added it, so SOMEONE obviously used it, but still...)

My guess is that they didn't feel the need to replicate this functionality in Genesys Cloud - especially as it seems an increasing number of folks are using WebRTC anyway....

    Just my 10 cents.
