  • 1.  Switch over error with Primary not seeing Backup server

    Posted 02-28-2024 12:43

    Hello,

Has anyone run into the issue where the Primary server show this error in the switchover panel: Failed to connect to to backup IC server: Failure to connect to Notifier because server cert could not be verified. To connect please use the administrator utility GenSSL to add this servers cert. However, if you go through the backup server there is no error given and it shows everything is in working order.

As well, the media server give Notifier connection failure. Could this be part of the same issue?

If it is just running that command what arguments were used to resolve this issue?

    Thank you,
    Burton Schilling

We did go from 2021 R1 to 2022 R2 we did keep the same host names and IPs, and migrated to new servers with an updated OS.

When you say migrated, do you mean you used switchover to migrate one server at a time into the pair to replace an existing server and replicate from the existing server, or did do something else?

    Hello Arron,

That is correct. We used the switchover method and replaced one server at time. We removed our old backup server and got an updated server in place with the same host ID and ip. We performed a switch over, and everything just is working fine on the updated server. We replace the old backup doing the same steps. Once we did the setup assistant the backup server is able to server our current active Primary and itself as the backup. However, when we try to see if our current primary server can see the backup server we get that error stated above.

    Thank you,

    Hello Burton,

When you check Switchover A and Switchover B parameters in Interaction Administrator parameters, you will see the names of the server.

When you run Setup  Assistant, you have to answer the wizard in that way.

Just unlike doing Setup Assistant for a first time installation, you have to always (both run on both servers) use existing certificate located in "d:\i3\ic\certificates\Server".

    Hello Guchan,

Yes, preformed a switchover from the backup server and ran the setup assistant on the primary to get this completed. However, after we done everything we noticed the media servers were not communicating and we removed the server from the media server and then back and stated the error above. Then we switched back over to the primary as our contact center was hard down. We checked the switchover panel from the primary, and the panel stated that our Backup server was a potential backup and it could not verify and gave this error "Failure to connect to Notifier because server cert could not be verified. To connect please use the administrator utility GenSSL to add this servers cert."  That is why I asked if we could just run that executable with the right arguments to see if that will resolve the issue.

    Thank you for response.
