    I know that you can access the media helper via URL but I thought I heard somewhere that there was software? Is this true and if so, can someone point me to the download?

    For reference, we're going to be trying out media helper to allow VDI users access to a solid WebRTC connection.

    Click on the correct region from this link: https://help.mypurecloud.com/articles/use-webrtc-media-helper-in-a-virtual-desktop-infrastructure-vdi-environment/

    There will be a media helper link for each region and it is not an installable, but an app for the browser.

    If you are using the desktop client:

    To force the desktop app client to run as a WebRTC Media Helper, make the following registry/preference value changes.

    Windows

    In the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Interactive Intelligence\Purecloud\Directory, add a new DWORD value called "RunAsMediaHelper", and set to 1 to make active.

    Example

    "RunAsMediaHelper"=dword:00000001

    Mac

    In the preferences file ~/Library/Preferences/com.inin.purecloud.directory.plist, add a new Boolean value called "runAsMediaHelper ", and set to true to make active.

    Example

    <key>runAsMediaHelper</key>
    <true/>

    For more information, see About WebRTC Media Helper.

    Hi,

    I configured the desktop app to run as MediaHelper, to no effect as the main GC application starts and not the MediaHelper.
    Tested on latest version 2.35.773 on Windows and also on Mac

    Can anyone confirm this please?

    Thanks,
    Stef

    The media helper will show that it's running by showing the "Running in Media Helper Mode" in the profile settings view. This is described in the "Deploy the desktop app (admin)" page under "Deploy as a WebRTC Media Helper" section.
