What is your favorite fandom?

After the Harry Potter Trivia event, the community is dying to know what everyone's favorite fandom is? From Cooking Shows to Marathons, I bet we have a wide range of interests. Can't wait to hear where everyone's devotions stand.

For me, it's either Cooking Shows or SCARY STORIES!

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a Scary Story Teller. It all started with "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," Scooby Doo," "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and crescendoed with "Are you Afraid of the Dark?". I loved going to the library and reading scary short stories or Goosebumps. In Boy Scouts, I made a Scary Story Box to keep all of my books and I still have it.

For what it's worth, it's not the aspect of horror or scares that's appealing it's the group experience. I do love horror movies, but I would never watch a horror movie alone. Not because I'm scared but because so much is lost in the audience response. So, I love going to Haunted/Spooky event. The two best that I've ever been to are "Sleep No More" in NYC and "Halloween Horror Nights" at Universal Studios.

I still collect horror and scary story memorabilia. My latest purchase is these fake Goosebump Covers of modern horror movies.

Great question. Time to geek out.

My favorite fandom is mildly obscure, but I've always been a huge Godzilla fan.

Something as a kid clicked with me about a giant monster fighting other giant monsters. Felt like the next step for someone who started as a dinosaur nut. While the series is slightly more mainstream now thanks to the Legendary films, it still has that cool dynamic of having both widespread and obscure elements of it. In fact, that's part of what captivated me was how many films there are related to the franchise, many of which don't feature Godzilla (Rodan, The War of the Gargantuas, etc).

For me, it is either hard sci-fi or alternative realities from authors like Eric Flint and David Weber, but recently post apocalyptic themes like The Culling from Tracie Wentworth are fun.

Although I have diverse interests, if I had to choose a favorite fandom it would be punk rock and hardcore (the genre, not the adjective) music. I've been a musician all of my life.

@Scott A Thomas Yeah...I hear ya. Back in the day (early/mid-80s) I had a good bit in my collection. Went to see Dump Truck live in D.C. Headed off to a Circle Jerks concert...but got sidetracked before I got there. In my collection the likes of (lots of) Dead Kennedys, Fear, Black Flag, Jesus and Mary Chain...Surf Punks if they count. Plus all the 60s surf music that was popular amongst the punkers at my school '82-'83 timeframe...just because my older brother was a 60s surfer.

George, that's incredible! I didn't know we shared this interest. I did go see Fear a couple years ago. One of the best shows I've ever been to. That surprised me considering how NOT well black flag held up when I saw them prior. Surf punk counts of course; I do like Agent Orange. I didn't have the chance to see any of the 80s hardcore bands in their prime. I'm too young! haha

Scott, yeah...I hide a lot of different interests behind my facade :-)

When my wife and I got married in 1988, my nephew was in his skate punk phase and gave us the Dead Kennedys' Frankenchrist album as our wedding gift because he knew I had other albums of theirs. My wife didn't appreciate it as much as I did :-)

My all-time top fandom is hands down the Simpsons. I have a modest collection, including the Lego Simpsons house and Kwik E Mart. Also a big Lego fan - the Starry Night set I ordered just arrived - and currently, Weird Al.

Definitely going through the discography, but the crossover isn't Weird Al/Lego - rather, I got the Weird Al Simpson's action figure for Mother's Day, along with this incredible find.

I've loved all kinds of music since I was a kid and pretty much stole my parent's vinyl a few years back (don't worry, they were ok with it). I keep adding awesome finds whenever I hit up a record store, used book store, or antique shop. It has become an obsession. The image below shows most of my collection. I also have a cool little box that holds all of my parent's 45s.

Even though everyone knows I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, I'm deeper than that! My other loves are broadway so I can sing to the top of my lungs with the actors/actresses, and I love to interior design basically anything! The painting below is a current design element I got from Nancy Rosen who is the artist on the Netflix show "Grace and Frankie."

I am a HUGE fan of Anne Rice, who recently passed away.  I fell in love with her Vampire Chronicles as a tween and have read and collected a copy of every single one of her novels ever published including some she published under pseudonyms.  I also adore her son, Christopher Rice, though his novels tend to be more fantastical than romantic.
