  • 1.  Genesys WebRTC Service - which Browsers are supported ?

    Posted 02-25-2015 13:40
    Hi there,

we are using the Genesys WebRTC Service JS-API to develope a video-telphony-service on a customer portal.

In the documentation I cannot find a concrete list of Browsers with Versions that are supported by the API (I found it only for mobile Browsers)

I know there is a plugin for the IE and Safari Browsers... nevertheless I like to have a concrete list which browsers are supported without the plugin and which are with the plugin.

So I think IE is only supported from Version 10 right?

    Thx in advance
    Michael

I tried with Internet-Explorer 10 and the plugin (current Version), but cannot manage to show a local view of the local camera. The same code is working with Chrome and Firefox. No errormessages....

It seems that one needs to use the exact same Plugin-Version as embedded in the WebRTC-API... which is a problem. As one cannot use newer  versions of the Plugin (no bugfixes...).

Is there any statement from genesys for this problem ?

    Hi,

WebRTC JavaScript API  8.5.200.07  supports the following web browsers:

? Google Chrome  30 and above (including Dev and Canary channels
    ? Google Chrome for Android
? Mozilla Firefox 26 and above
    ? Mozilla Firefox for Android
? Opera (Desktop and Mobile) 20 and above

    Please note:

Unless otherwise noted, browser plug-ins are not supported for these browsers. Only the browser is supported.

The Genesys WebRTC Service product is based on WebRTC technology drafted at IETF and W3C. This technology is still in a draft stage, and therefore the browsers implementation is still evolving at a fast pace on signaling, media and security parts.

Genesys tests and seeks compatibility for all browsers announcing WebRTC technology support. Thanks to our continuous delivery model, we aim at reducing to a minimum the delay between a browser’s compatibility announcement and its support. The same policy is valid for browsers evolutions.

Please rerefer to Genesys Supported Operating Environment Reference Guide "Supported Operating Environment: Genesys WebRTC Service" section.

Also consider WebRTC Release Notes for known issues with specific browser versions.

    Hi Roman,

    thanks for your answer.

Just to make clear if I understand you correct:

You do not support the Temasys plugin for browsers which do not support WebRTC (e.g. IE, Safari) although stated in the documentation here  (bottom of page):  http://docs.genesys.com/Documentation/WRTC/latest/Developer/UsingtheAPI

    Best regards
    Michael
