We're new to Genesys and are starting our first build.  Is there a step by step guide on what needs to be provisioned in Genesys?  Any particular order? Hopefully something to help us be sure we don't skip something.

There are no official step-by-step guide for this. This process is very general and simple to understand, so what is not clear for you within that?

As I look at this for the first time, I relate it back to other projects, such as when we rolled out Cisco many years ago.  There, we had in the training package that included step by step instructions, ex. what must be done first, what information was needed to complete that part, then the second step was listed etc. etc. etc.. The Genesys training materials seems to be written more for the technicians who are setting up hardware, than for the people who are responsible for building the base the system will work off of.  If you have a link that is more focused on the GA, then great.  I'd love to see it.

    Hi Ron,

I assume that you've SIP Server or at least another PBX.
Since Users are at the top you may consider to create the User related objects, before you create the User object. As an example you may follow to the steps below. Genesys is flexible.
1- Create Extensions in related Switch
2- Create Agent Login IDs in related Switch
    3- Create Places
    4- Create Skills
5- Link an Extension to each Place you've created.
    6- Create Users
7- Add an Agent Login ID, from the Switch, to the User. Set wrap up time if you need.
8- Add related Skills to the User. Assign a Skill level
9- In case you deployment requires, you may assign a Default Place to the User
    10- Create Agent Groups
11- You may assign the Agents to the Agent Groups manually or you may write a simple script to link the Agent Group to a skill. Thus Agent those have that skill shall automatilcally member of that Agent Group.

This is a pretty simple guide.
Besides these steps, you also have to to consider Routing strategies and your Contact Centers' requirements to set up that objects.
Training Guides, Deployment and Referecence guides will help you.

    Best regards
