We're thinking about building a client app (widget), but it will need to always be running whenever the Genesys Cloud desktop is open. Is there a way to ensure that this app will be auto-started whenever the agent logs in to GC Desktop?

Genesys Cloud Client Apps do not support an auto-open feature. You can request new features and share your use case at https://genesyscloud.ideas.aha.io/.
A few suggestions from the Client Apps dev team:
- standalone apps are routable. So, if it's a standalone app, users could bookmark that as their genesys cloud url and that would auto-start the app. only works for browser-based apps
- Panel Manager allows admins to configure a defualt app for interaction widgets/interapptions. Doesn't help with standalone/widget apps

The app I'm talking about is not a standalone app, it would be a Client App that I set up in Genesys Cloud Desktop under 'Interactions', and configure it as 'Application Type' of 'widget'. Is that what you're talking about that can be a 'default app', or is that something else?

Understood. To be clear, it's not possible to accomplish what you want using a widget app. The suggestions are potential workarounds using other types of client apps.

Would it be possible to have an agent script start up a client app widget? And if so, could an agent script be triggered when the phone agent logs in? That might enable the widget to start at login?
