Does AI really save you time !

  • 1.  Does AI really save you time !

    Posted 03-17-2026 08:29

Hi all, Lets not talk about the customer experience but in your day to day jobs - Sending emails, replying to chats dealing with customers, producing reports or presentations, i am curious to wether AI is saving you any time!

Where has AI actually saved you time at work - not just in theory?

So what tools are you using and what for and are they really saving you time?

    Thanks

    Love this question Viren. And I thought what better way to comment than ask my GPT what it thinks it does to make me more efficient and this is the response (asked for 1 sentence;

You're using ChatGPT to compress time between thinking and high-quality output - which is exactly where it delivers the most value.

    Hi Viren.

Great question! From my day-to-day, AI is definitely saving time in practical ways, especially with drafting and rephrasing emails, summarising long threads or meeting notes into clear actions, and helping structure reports or presentations so I'm not starting from a blank page.

I also use it for quick first-pass insights on data and to speed up responses in chats when juggling multiple conversations.

It's not perfect, but as a first draft and accelerator it genuinely saves time!

I use it for the norm, on helping on scripts for presentations, creation for images, even agenda poems to add a element of fun.  I am not sure how much time it saves me but it definitely helps on a inspiration front.  Usual apps, Chatgpt for most, then canva plus sumo for song writing.

Great question, Virender. I have been using ChatGPT to help me brainstorm and organize training content. Besides making the process faster, I can explorer topics that I haven't initially thought about. AI has been saving and making the use of my time more efficient.

When I returned from leave, I was greeted by the usual avalanche of emails-long threads, scattered updates, and the constant challenge of figuring out what actually mattered. Instead of manually working my way through everything, I decided to try using ChatGPT to help analyse my inbox.

The difference was immediate. Rather than trawling through endless email chains to find the latest or most relevant information, I could quickly surface key conversations and focus on what really needed my attention. It saved me a significant amount of time and reduced the mental load of catching up.

While that alone was helpful, using AI to organise and prioritise my emails has been a real game changer. It's not just about saving time-it's about working smarter and staying focused on what matters most.

    P.S AI wrote this! ha

    Hi @Virender Sethi!

Exactly, an avalanche of information, lol.

I have indeed saved valuable time with artificial intelligence tools like ChatGpt and Gemini, for example.

I also save a lot of time with Copilot. It performs actions with a huge saving of clicks. Both in the analysis of reports and in the configuration of agents and queues.

I feel like it only saves me time if I have enough info to be very specific about what I am searching for.

    Hello Virender.

ChatGpt help me a lot for organization and automations.

When I have to plan something, with a good prompt you can put you ideas and have assistance to build a road map or a study guide.

For automations, many times you have do adjust some scripts or thing like that and it can really boost your time.

The most important thing, always reviewing the results to attend my demands.

AI mainly helps me with the small day-to-day stuff, like writing emails faster, organizing my thoughts, summarizing conversations, and helping with documentation. I use ChatGPT a lot to save time on repetitive tasks and make things a little easier.

    Hi Virender,

Yes, AI has been saving me time in a very practical way, especially because I don't use it only as a generic chat tool.

One approach that has worked well for me is creating specific AI agents or prompt configurations for different types of activities. For example, I use different prompt structures depending on the task: functional documentation, meeting summaries, test scenarios, client-facing emails, flow reviews, discovery questions, or technical explanations.

In my day-to-day work with IVR, digital flows, routing rules, integrations, bots, and testing, this helps me a lot because each "agent" already has the context, tone, structure, and expected output for that type of work.

Some examples where it saves me time:

    * Turning meeting notes or scattered information into structured documentation
    * Drafting functional specifications
    * Creating test scenarios and validation checklists
    * Reviewing flow logic and possible fallback/error scenarios
    * Preparing clearer emails or explanations for clients and internal teams
    * Organizing discovery questions before meetings

For me, the biggest benefit is reducing the time spent starting from a blank page. AI does not replace the analysis or the business understanding, and I still review and validate everything, but it helps me structure the work much faster.

I'd say prompt engineering and task-specific AI agents make the difference. The more clearly I define the context, role, expected format, restrictions, and validation criteria, the better and more useful the output becomes.

Interesting topic.  AI has definitely helped drive efficiency for me by reducing cognitive load and minimising noise in day-to-day work.

The biggest gains have been around research, writing, organising thoughts, summarising information, and creating structure for reports, presentations, and customer communication.

That said, with the explosion of AI companies and tools, it has also become an incredibly noisy space.  There are now so many platforms promising productivity gains that choosing the right tools can be overwhelming in itself.

What has really stood out recently is the rise of agentic AI; systems that can research, plan, and take action rather than simply respond to prompts.  Used correctly, this can drive efficiency even further.  But I strongly believe there should always be a human in the loop to provide oversight and prevent unwanted actions or poor decisions.

Building my own agents in Claude and ChatGPT has also changed how I think about work.  It's taught me to focus not just on the outcome, but on the workflow required to get there.  Things like creating a "soul" or personality for the agent, defining guardrails, organising source materials, and connecting the right tools all matter.

The setup can take time initially, but the long-term result starts to feel like a digital twin that genuinely improves efficiency and consistency.

    Hi,

I believe AI really does save time, but it largely depends on how it's used.

When you already have a clear idea of what you need, tools like AI can be very helpful, especially for quick answers, reviewing texts, structuring emails, or even organizing ideas.

On the other hand, when the objective isn't well-defined or it's difficult to explain what you want, the time to arrive at a good answer can be even longer.

In daily work, I see more gains in tasks like writing, communication adjustments, and small automations. It doesn't replace everything, but it helps to significantly speed up parts of the work.

I use AI a lot for research, I find it much faster than using a search engine. I also use it for small day-to-day tasks and to study English, especially to help with translations.

Well, I think it's all relative.  I prefer to think of AI as giving me more options, more quickly, so I can decide and focus more efficiently.  It's not always about doing something faster, but can you do it better in the same time period?
