Earth Day

    Earth Day is coming up next week - April 22! Just curious how people plan to recognize the day.

    Hi Natasha

    Here in Brazil, it's not very well remembered as "Earth Day" because it's the day Brazil was discovered in 1500. In other words, for us Brazilians, it's a national holiday because it was the day that "Pedro Álvares Cabral" arrived in Bahia with his caravel and "discovered" Brazil.
     
    There were already indigenous people here, but okay haha... I don't want change the history lol
    Here we celebrate the holiday on April 21st....Why? I'm not sure.haha

    @Kaio Oliveira that's interesting, thanks for sharing. Sounds like the Brazilian version of what we used to call Columbus Day in the USA.

    Agree @Cesar Padilla. We only have one earth. Space exploration is cool and all, but I personally prefer we protect our current planet before we try to transform another one for us to live on :)

    We're looking at a few simple things this year mainly focusing on small, practical changes rather than anything too big. Things like reducing unnecessary printing, encouraging reusable bottles/cups, and just being a bit more mindful of energy use during the day.
