I'm also a big sports fan, but if I had to pick one that really gets me hyped, it's definitely Formula 1. There's something about the combination of technology, strategy, and pure speed that makes it addictive.

I don't follow many sports to closely.  I enjoy Hockey quite a bit and prefer to catch a Dallas Star game on occasion or the Allen Americans from the ECHL as their tickets are usually pretty cheap and they a 10 minute drive to the games. 
Outside of that I would have to say I'm a big fan of the annual Isle of Mann TT races, which should kick off in about 2 months. I stumbled on this several years ago while sitting in an airport lounge that had it on and was fascinated by the Sidecar races.

+1 for hockey. I like watching baseball games but really only in person. I haven't really followed basketball since the late 90s when it was still good. But I can still get behind hockey. Love going to Providence Bruins games and eventually I'll make it to a Worcester Railers game. Not a fan of going into the city so going to a Boston Bruins game is probably out lol

My favorite sport is baseball and my favorite team is the New York Mets. (Yesterday was the season home opener and they won 11-7. 🎉) I have a list of favorite Mets players too long to share here, but my favorite full team of Mets was 2024. (Sure, 1986 was a winning team, but even they didn't have the energy of the 2024 team.) There was so much joy in the game. The players truly seemed to be having fun. One of the players, Jose Iglesias, is also a singer and his song "OMG!" became the team anthem for the season. 

There are too many amazing athletes to choose a favorite, but I especially admire Serena and Venus Williams, Simone Biles, and Megan Rapinoe.

(Also, talking about Pelé... I was privileged to see him play in NY way back when I was a teenager.)

Given the success of the post about your favorite movie, now that the Oscars have been awarded, I'd like to ask the community what your favorite sport is, and which athlete or team you root for.

Of course, I'll start by telling you that I'm a huge sports fan, both watching and playing.
I really like basketball, and as a young man, I had a real passion for the Los Angeles Lakers, led by Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy.

But, if I really had to choose the sport that really drives me crazy, as a true Italian, I have to say football (because that's what it's called, since it's played with your feet, not soccer! 😁). And my favorite team is the one from my hometown, Napoli. The footballer? The greatest of all time, Diego Armando Maradona, aka D10S, whom I had the pleasure of admiring in Serie A.

Now I'm curious to know your answers.
