    Summary

We’re excited to announce that HTTP/2 support is coming to the Genesys Cloud REST API across multiple regions. This change aims to align the supported protocol version across all region offerings, ensuring a consistent and improved experience for all our customers.

    Effective Date

    Monday, September 01, 2025

    Details

HTTP/2 will be enabled for REST API endpoints in the following five additional regions, supplementing those where it is already active:

    • North America: *.use1.pure.cloud
    • EMEA: Ireland, Frankfurt
    • Asia Pacific: Sydney, Tokyo

For full regional domain information, refer to:

    Benefits of HTTP/2

    • Improved performance: HTTP/2 offers multiplexing, header compression, and server push capabilities, potentially leading to faster API responses.
    • Better resource utilization: Reduced network overhead and more efficient use of TCP connections.
    • Standardization: Consistent protocol support across all Genesys Cloud regions.

    Performance Considerations:

    Pros:

    • Reduced latency due to multiplexing and header compression
    • Improved connection efficiency
    • Potential for better overall application performance

    Cons:

    • Minimal impact on single, small requests
    • Possible initial connection setup overhead (mitigated by connection reuse)

    How to Prepare:

No action is required from customers to enable HTTP/2. The protocol negotiation will happen automatically between your client and our servers.

    1. Most modern HTTP clients already support HTTP/2. Ensure your client libraries are up-to-date.
    1. HTTP/1.1 will still be supported, so no immediate changes are required if you're not ready to switch.
    1. Test your applications with HTTP/2 enabled to identify any potential issues.
    1. Monitor your application's performance before and after the change to measure the impact.

    Customer Impact

We anticipate minimal impact on existing applications. However, we recommend testing your applications with HTTP/2 enabled to ensure optimal performance and identify any potential issues.
