Ah, so you didn't follow the Walter White career path with your Chemistry knowledge? 🤣

My education was pretty standard here in the UK - I studied Computing as part of my GCSEs (age 16); then Computing, Maths and Physics at A-level (age 18), then Computer Science at degree level at university. Started work with BT straight from University, and my first job was writing agent desktop applications using the TServer API on Genesys 3.1, and I've been in and around Genesys solutions ever since. 

Haha thankfully I stayed on the right side of the law! 🤣

That's a really interesting journey, and if I can say, quite nerdy too hahaha

While my formal degrees are all IT-based, a BS in Software Engineering, MS in IT Management. My Career path started as an Auto Tech and building Drift cars professionally; this all changed back in 2017 when I had got injured and transitioned to a Techline Agent. The company paid for me to get my degrees. After one of the trainings for a new process, I reached out to the instructor to ask how to contact one of the teams who developed the program to give some feedback about the UI and potentially look for an SE role. I was put in contact with my current director and fell into VoIP. This is not exactly what I was pursuing, and I had a bit of apprehension; I have grown fond of the development side of things.  

That's a fascinating journey!

It has definitely been a journey and an experience. I will probably start building a car for myself, as I do miss that side of things, but this would more be a personal project and not something that would be a career switch. I do like where I am at currently and am looking at diving deeper into the platform. I had a substantial mindset shift about a year ago, and that has really been a healthy change both professionally and reduced stressload.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. 😊

I later moved into IT and completed my Master's in Information Systems, and somehow the journey eventually led me to Genesys! 😄

I got my Bachelor's in Graphic Design and was a front-end web designer and developer for about 5 years out of college before I stumbled into Community Management with a gaming studio. I fell in love with the work and have been doing it ever since!

My degree is in Mechatronics Engineering from FACENS, in Brazil!

It's still connected to technology, but my work today is much more focused on customer experience, conversational AI, and Genesys Cloud than on physical machines.

There's an interesting connection, though: understanding how different parts of a system interact, investigating unexpected behaviour, and testing whether something works outside the ideal scenario.

These days, the system might include an AVA, integrations, knowledge content, and a customer who asks something we hadn't anticipated. That engineering mindset still comes in handy. 😄

That's awesome, Camila! A chemistry background builds an amazing logical mindset!

In my case, my core foundation was in Computer Engineering back in 2010. To stay ahead of the curve, I did a post-grad in Big Data & Artificial Intelligence in 2025.

The fun part outside of core tech was that I actually started an HR Management course just to keep my wife company during her studies! But in the end, the crazy pace and workload of the IT world took over, and I had to bow out halfway through kkkk.

It's always funny to see the unique paths people take before we all meet here in the CX world!
