Do you mean the ANI that shows up in the Interactions View, or the ANI that the customer sees?

Remote is based upon the number dialed if an Outbound interaction.
ANI is a value supplied by the Analytics service, and represents the user who places the call. It's complicated...not really an ANI, by definition.

The ANI in the Interaction View shows your info when you place a call, but not necessarily the ANI sent to the Telco on the call. That information is not available in the UI, and can be quite different from what is shown in the Interactions View. You have to use the API to do a Conversation Details query to see the actual number sent out on the call.
