    Hi all,

I try to setup a whistle blowing number for our company and one of the compliance requirements is that the CLI (Caller Identifying Number) should not be visible.

We are located in the UK and it is possible for a user to withhold their CLI by dialling 141 as prefix to any number, however if they forget to do so, in Genesys their CLI is attached to the voicemail left and additionally if their Mobile is known, their name shows up as well so not really anonymous.

I tried to "remove" the CLI from the interaction, but that's not allowed either.

I'm even willing to sacrifice a number on the Genesys platform if I can withhold the CLI and forward the call to a second number on the Genesys platform. However I haven't managed that either.

Does anyone here have had a similar challenge or do you know any provider that can provide numbers that allow you to send the call anonymous to your platform?

Thanks a million if someone can provide me with some thoughts on this!

Have all a fabulous day and stay well!

We can't change the inbound name and number at present, but what you could do is transfer that call back out and use another DID as the OLI on the trunk and back into GC so it looks like every call would come from that same number.  You just need an extra trunk on GCV or BYOC Cloud that can override any number as the OLI.

Now, how to disguise the voice?  Use a bot to capture the input and delete the recording or don't record at all.

    Hi Robert,

Thanks for the reply, I have 2 systems one for UAT/SIT and one for Prod. You might just have solved my pain by taking a number from UAT/SIT and forward that to PROD!

Just need to see whether or not I can suppress the CLI as far I have tried it's nor allowing me to send the call out anonymously though there must be a way like we did in PureConnect.

The voice was the point argued as well but they didn't seem to care too much about that funny enough...

    Kind regards,

Which telephony model are you using?  BYOC-C, BYOC-Premise, etc?  If there's an SBC/CUBE of some sort involved and you're able to talk to your provider, they may be able to do some SIP manipulation of certain calls using different profiles, dial-peers etc to do something similar for you.  We've done something similar for the other direction in that outbound calls from one or more specific queues are sent to the carrier as anonymous (still requires valid Diversion headers) but others are presented as required.

    Hi Vaun,

Thanks for your reply, we are using BYOC, I already contacted them with a request for a solution and I might point out that they could strip the CLI on the SBC or replace it.

    Thanks that's another good solution.

    Kind regards,

There are some third party services that will do a masked-call-forward for situations like this, in a past life I saw a few domestic violence hotlines use a service from Grasshopper to anonymize inbounds.

    Hi Brad,

    Many thanks for your response.

Grasshopper is US based I'm located in the UK. I have contacted my line provider if they can modify the endpoint SBC for the specific nrs to remove the CLI on all incoming calls.

    Waiting for their response.

    Stay safe.
