We noticed late Friday that there was a change made to the UI under Admin - People on the Roles tab.  Previously when you added a role to a user on this tab, you would see all the divisions that were assign right there on the screen.  Now, it shows the count of the divisions and you have to click on that to see which divisions are assigned.  Now I don't necessarily think this is a bad change, but we didn't receive any notice (that I can find) that this was changing.  Did anyone else have this change in their organization?  Screen shot below:

    Thanks!

Hmmm I've just gone in and looked and yes it's changed here too.  This is like that not responding change.  No notification, just another unaccounced changed to the UI without any feedback or notification.

Why does this seem to be happening with more frequency lately?  Sure some of these things are cosmetic, but that division one can actaully be a real problem as it adds more work to go in to actually see what divisions are aware or need to be added without the previously visual.

These seemingly random UI changes are really beginning to become annoying - especially when it's a change in functionality that has a detrimental impact.

I now have to click on the divisions to see what's assigned - or to assign. It's not just a simple view of which ones they already have and having to click on each one to see if it's assigned correctly.

The previous style was more user friendly. Why not just keep it simple?

It is weird that access to multiple divisions counts as "1 division".

Dear Team, we have also noticed this one and previously we would routinely scan the roles to check DIVs assigned, not possible now so easier to make mistakes.

A bulk check / update for all assigned roles would also help as normally Division assignment is consistent across roles.

Maybe there is a technical reason for this change but it has made Admin more difficult...

You're right, it's changed for us too.

This seems a real backwards step, it is far less user-friendly. Previously you could at a glance scan to see if any role accidentally had the wrong permissions assigned (and change them), now you need to select each one manually to review - in what way is that an improvement?

Also I echo that a permission assigned to "All Divisions" displays as "1 Division", which is quite frankly misleading.

Quite honestly I can't understand any rationale for this change as it seems to be much worse, and will have a detrimental impact on my workflow (and others).

    Hi ,
Noticed the change to :-( , (without any announcement) this is really a step back and creates a lot of work
Proviously we could see for a user to which Division his role was assigned now we need to acces each role , this really needs to roll back asap !

What exactly would be the benefit of changing the UI this way?

The only thing I can think of is to save space.  That box could get rather large if you had a role with multiple divisions in it.  This makes all the boxes the same size.  Only a guess though.

True, although I'd rather they displayed them as they did before, unless there is e.g. 6 roles assigned and in that compress it into the "Inspect" box like they have now.

Is there anyone from Genesys monitoring these discussions?  It would nice to have an explanation as to why this change was made and more importantly, why it wasn't communicated.

    Hello all,
Thanks for your input below. It was a mistake on our part that this feature missed our release process and was released on it's own, it was intended to be part of a broader feature. We are putting process in place, so that this will not happen again. Moving forward, you will see all UI changes going through the release process and announcements prior to our release.

That said, the intent behind this UI changes is to improve UX for Admins associating more than a few Divisions to a role. This feature will show the names of the divisions if the roles have less than equal to five Divisions. If not, we will be showing the total number of Divisions associated with it. (I know, its currently showing the total number of Divisions even for <= 5 divisions, the fix is on it's way).

    Thanks.

    Hi Vasudev,

Thanks for the explanation!  And thanks in advance for the bug fix.  In addition, will there be a separate identifier for when all Divisions and Future Divisions are selected as opposed to it just saying there are "X" divisions selected?

    Thanks again!

    Hi Jason,
Yes, there will be an update to the identifier.

    Thanks

Is it possible to also make view to expand all divisions when >5? Because it takes time to click every division to see what is in it.
    Maybe on the view menu?

Admins are able to assign up to 50 Divisions to a Role. Expanding to all divisions would not provide a better UX. We will look into providing options to the User, where they could define the view.

    Hi Everyone,

It looks like the fix went in.  If 5 or less divisions are selected for a given role, they are shown on the page.  If "All Future Divisions" is selected, it shows All Divisions and anything outside of those will show the number of divisions and you have to click the pencil to see which divisions are assigned.
